I work for an ISP and can tell you that the level of bandwidth and servers required for Scoobynet is actually a considerable sum of money per month, and this cost goes up the more that people use sites as large and popular as Scoobynet
the smaller sites with smaller user base and much less traffic cost significantly less and have adverts too

20 HOURS A WEEK. Try to imagine what it would be like to have the kind of extra burden on your life - for no salary.

if scoobynet is costing the mods time and money to run the site then open/give scoobynet back to the community.
I'm sure there will be loads of people willing give up their time so the community can use ALL of scoobynet for free

LOL
Ray I dont think anyone here would be willing to host Scoobynet for free in their own home on their own bandwidth? Or even in a small company
Then what would happen if they had a power cut, or a disk failure, or several thousand users complaining that it takes 20 minutes to load a page
Seriously how slow do you think it would be, and how long would they run it for?
I work for an ISP and we couldnt even host it for free (not even snuck in the back door) and we have more bandwidth than you could shake a stick at
The only people I see whinging are those who want things in life for free, and have used SN that much and its features so much they will be lost without it yet wont pay a measely fiver to show their support

Ray and "The Rig" are both talking like a couple of laughably illinformed idiots.
It always amazes me how those with the least knowledge and understanding are the ones with a) the biggest mouths, b) the tightest wallets, and c) the most opinionated tone.
Both of you. You are absolutely right, and we just misunderstood the whole thing.
thanks for your help.
