Call from the machinists to say my modified block is done. Heads will be done by the end of the week.
Looks like things might actually get interesting soon

Machinist called me again today to go and have a look at the work being done to the combustion chambers on the heads. They wanted me to take a look for myself to make sure i was happy with design etc.

Happy is an understatement. Over the moon with the CNC work done so far. They should be complete by the end of the week so i'll probably collect them early next week.

Block is also finished and looks fantastic.

The excitement is starting to build.

You'll need 450/450 to unseize the rolling element

Great news, how weird it will be to see it rollin again !

Have fun cleaning. Stick the hose onto the hot tap and give it a soak before you do anything else. Then back onto the cold and a blitz with the pressure washer and follow up with R222 citrus degreaser through a foam gun to shift it. You know what to do after that.

You're welcome to borrow my kit as apart from those that are booked in I'm knocking the detailing on the head so it won't be needed every weekend.

It's just not financially viable for me really. I don't mind doing club members cars for a reasonable amount of beer tokens. However most clients are looking for bargain basement prices. Other detailers are charging £400+ (which I'd be chuffed to get per car and every 2 days) and even quoting two thirds or half of that people just don't seem to want to pay it. For what I was getting out of it, I'd rather have the weekends to myself and spend time with the kids.

Plus the missus got made redundant at the end of last year just before going on maternity leave, so I can't take the risk in giving up the day job and not making the money. We need her to find a job as soon as she can in September or it'll be goodbye house.

Maybe one day I will go for it again and be fully self employed. Just not the right time at the moment.

Fresh from the machinist. The heads and block need dressing and stoning in a couple of areas before washing.

The keen amongst you will see what ive done.
