It wont need over 2 bar to make good power Dunc, but im still not convinced that liners are required for a big power 2.5 to last.

Cosworth dont sleeve their blocks for 600+bhp... i belive alot of it is how its tuned. built and used.

If i had it linered, i wouldnt be convinced that they wouldnt drop anyway.

So are you doing anything about that or just hoping for the best?

Can you not get them chromed or anodised for a more permanent finish?

Nah, chrome isnt my thing and anodising means stripping the AC pump down etc. Im not too worried to be honest im sure they will be fine. I mean, theyve lasted this long

Shame they will be out of date now.

At least the paint has had time to dry on them.

Todays updates...

Stripped and cleaned the throttlebody and smoothed out a few imperfections. Didnt go mad, just jolly'd it up a bit

Also gave the header tank the glass bead treatment ready to be powdercoated. The turbo water feed will be converted to an -AN fitting before this is done.

Also wonder if anybody can spot the modification to the newage tank?

Okay, ive cut and smoothed the lower leg that usually bolts to the power steering line. The tank will not be in the stock location and the PAS lines will be different anyway so i thought id give the header tank a smoother cleaner look.

I think they came up quite nice

Cheers Mark

Just in from the garage, done a little bit more.

Also spoken to the guys at P&L in the US who say my turbo will be with them on friday ready to be shipped out to me next week.

Im delaying taking the heads off of my block as i need these in place to fabricate my up/downpipes. I cant do that until my turbo is here.

I want to get this all done and ready so that when the 257 motor is built it can all bolt up hopefully with a little fuss as possible.

It sounds funny but the actual build of the new motor will probably be the quickest and easiest part of the whole process lol

New engine, new suspension... will be a new car when it goes back together...

I'm sure you have already stated this, but will you be port & polishing the heads?
Any plans to change the cams?

Lol, there isnt much left of the original car Mike

Possible port/polish, and possible cams. Funds dependant.

The heads will deffo have the combustion chambers machined though and deffo be decked. Id like to do the valvetrain too.
With the AVCS cams, my cams are already pretty good and will cope with my goals. The ports may want a little tidy up, which i may do myself.

I purchase a Tial 44mm external wastegate today too so the list is slowly getting smaller

Glad you've finally got the KW's! Had mine on for a couple of weeks now and very impressed - many thanks for the suggestion a month or so ago.

I'm lovin' the bay component cleaning (header tanks etc).... Not too flash but will give a lovely clean finish.

Yeah im not really into the whole bling bling thing. Just clean, tidy and smart with maybe the odd polished bit here on there.

Hopefully the engine bay should look as good as it will hopefully go once im done

KLooking forwrd to getting the KW's on too, but thats the last thing on my mind right now lol

Todays work...

Glass blasted the, thermostat outlet, water bridge and block pipes. These were then resprayed gloss black the same as they left the factory.

Also hot washed/degreased the oil filler and cambelt covers.

All came up rather spiffing too

Lol, yeah Stu totally agree. If youre gonna do it, might aswell do it as best i can.

Hopefully should have my turbo/wastegate next week so can set about the fabrication work. Need to do that first before the heads come off. Also looking into spinning my inlet manifold but i think that will have to be done once the engines built and the ancilleries are bolted up.

Today the car will get a well deserved wash, hopefully i'll get a couple of hours on it over the weekend too.

Todays progress...

Firstly, big thanks to Trails for dropping some parts off for me.

Firstly my KW's are finally here. They look awesome and i cant wait to get them on.

Mocom Phenolic manifold spacers

NGK Racing 8's (Sparkplugs) - Seemingly the most expensive plugs on gods earth lol!-

Shame that the pics are cak but i gave the car a wash today and also spent about 2 hours fully degreasing my engine bay as best i can. Lots more to be done here but at least its all dirt free now.

Heres the EJ207's current status. Waiting on my turbo kit till i can go much further now.

Had to laugh when i see this earlier.... what a car boot sale this would be
