I did the 55.690 and went back to the main screen and it was still reading my old 56.9xx, normally it updates instantly.
Tried it again and got the 56.003 and it updated straight away.
Not too bother about losing the quicker time, it had a penalty in it and I got .3 of sec up on the following lap but ruined as I backed off too much on the last corner.

Not sure if this works but the Forzamotorsport.net scoreboards have been updated, the times are now in order and you can link directly, although you have to click on 'friends'.
Forza Motorsport 2 - Forza 2 Scoreboard
In case they don't

I'm filtering to Class R4 only, if you take a look my original time is in an Audi and a number 55 GT3 is there too. The scoreboard won't be much use later as I've set some cracking laps in cars we may never match.

Are we limiting it to 1 car only or can we do it any car within that class?
Dont like the GT3 much in that class - prefer one of the Audi's.

I would love to join in except...
1: I am crap compared to you lot
2: I think they got the name wrong, they meant to call it "Froza(n) Motorsport 2" as mine keeps locking up on me (This does seem a fairly common problem)
I will keep practising though

Hey I was the one advocating no aids at all, but since everyone else wanted to use them I thought I'd give them a try

Will try again tomorrow with no aids, I honestly don't think they help me that much
PS its got it be specific car per challenge, not class. Let's get this one out the way and maybe we should go to 2 challenges a week to keep it fresh in case people don't like the car choice on a particular challenge?
I am currently having a week on rFactor, new DTM mod is sweet and i miss my DFP and i have in car view.....anyway. Plan to be back on 360 from Fri and then have a week of PC then a week of Forza
Looking forward to challenging some times

Think I might manage a 54.x, but it'll mean hooking up all my fastest sectors into 1 lap (easier said than done).
Dont think I'll get anywhere near the 53.x thats the current record.
Having STM off is certainly quicker - it stops you getting a slight drift needed to get round that last bend with a decent amount of speed.

I think if I strung a perfect lap of my best times in each 'sector' I could see a 54.9 but I think it will take quite a few laps even with the wheel, there are just so many places to lose a tenth, if I touch either of the kerbs in either of the S bends, it tweaks me into time-losing oversteer.
Definitely gets your palms sweaty when you still see green sector markers by the 2nd to last bend

Usually enough to send me wide on the final corner

Still to figure out a reliable braking point for the last turn - it's one of 3 for me - a sign on the right hand sign of the track (think this could be too early) a white line across the track that seperates it from the full track, and the rumble strip on the left.
The S bends are where I'm losing most time I think, I've been mostly trying to chop as much of the corner off as possible and I think it's the wrong thing to do, what should be happening is your inside wheels not even on the rumble strip, as you tend to lose a bit of traction.

Agreed, I've started changing up a higher gear through them now so to settle the car and stop the wheelspin, use the torque to pull you through and out. That took me into the 55's.

I'm finding the autobox tends to keep me in the right gear for most of the lap - manual helps on some tracks but I tend to get a bit too flustered when something goes wrong!
Hope I can break into the 54's - managed to get .175 up on the ghost at one point, and on another lap I was .230 behind it and managed to catch it.

Hmmm, maybe I'll try auto later, but usually in any racing game the very first thing I do is stick it on manual. Given your time though, it's obviously not a hinderance! I bet you grinned like the proverbial cheshire when you saw that one in the bag!!!

I was certainly in the zone for a few good laps, started off with a pretty poor 57 something after a penalty but then went on a run of about 6 or 7 laps where the time just got quicker & quicker - did a 55.5 and kept shaving the odd bit off until I came up with a 55.262 I think it is - then thought I better save it before the console threw a wobbler!
Always used to treat the Endurance races in GT as Time Trials - you'll end up in a trance at some points and when you eventually notice your fastest lap its a case of "OMG, where did I pull that one from!"
Pretty happy with the time but its certainly beatable. <slaps gauntlet in face>
Iain - no tuning at all - I was going to ask if anyone else had tinkered with the settings and why, but I think a lot come down to personal taste - given the choice I probably wouldnt pick the GT3 as the car either if I'm honest.
