are you sick of triers

I happen to agree with most of what BarryK is saying. There is definitely a time and a place if your going to play and under normal circumstances I wouldn't have bothered but imagine.........
Your sitting there waiting to turn right into this driveway, coming towards you is a shiny silver Ferrari 360, as the car turns in the driver looks at you, smiles and gives you the come on...Now he either want's to buy you drinks and dinner or he wants to see how fast your car is. theres' no chance of you being nicked or causing an accident (unless you or he crashes) so pop quiz.....what do you do??? What do you do ??????

It was a bit disappointing actually. I expected a great V12 howl but it was more like a.....like a.....none howling thing. Which probably indicates that he wasn't going for it.

Dunno why everyone thinks I drive an M5.....
Just know I'd beat Buddy, that's all
You lot are so quick to slate other cars/drivers, it's unreal sometimes.
Most unlikely car is a Fiesta 950 pop....

I don't see what the problem is with these "tryers". If they pi55 you off just ignore them - basically they're not worth the effort.
If you want to race them then go ahead but don't just blame them - it takes 2 to race.
There are plenty of great cars out there, and many are better than Scoobs in different ways. If someone wants to get a car that's up to them - as long as they don't force me to buy a car I don't want I don't care. I don't have a problem with a person in a Bentley. They can't handle like me but then they bought the car for luxury.
People seem to love to put BMWs, Mercedes, Audi S3s etc. down. I don't see the point in generalising about drivers of certain cars, and saying that they are all to55ers. All generalisations like that are bo11ocks.

I must be doing something wrong or right...I don't consider any beemer as a real challenge they're just a bit of fun, I usually play with 911's, ferrari's and such
I recently had a bit of a head the head with a F360 and either the guy wasn't trying, he didn't know how to try or my car is seriously quick, cause up to 130ish I left him

I've got a mate/colleague whos got a Ferrari 355F1 and believe me it is a bloody beast. It sounds like an F1 car when it goes for it too! I suspect the 360 wasn't going for it...

I'm tempted to say, put yer foot down.
BUT one can never be sure. What if Ted or Mrs Ted came trundling across or down the driveway in their golf trolley or whatever?
And sorry but my comment wasn't just aimed at you. We have a lot of saintly folk on this BBS.

...or that the V8 couldn't howl like a V12 no matter how hard he was trying
An on-song 360 sounds fabulous, we heard one at Oulton Park no long after they were released. It screamed.

Going back to the trying it on bit as well...
the only car that I can remember trying it on was an M3!!
I was waiting at the lights on a bit of dual, and along side pulled the M3. It was obvious he assumed he would pass me as there was nothing behind me, so I thought ok matey!
I was grinning to myself because the conditions were definately more scoob friendly. The road has numerous cambers as its got 2 side roads that join it (hence the lights). It was also wet !!!
So anyway, lights go amber and we both go for it. My scoob just does as you would expect, and accelerates at warp factor 9.5
Mr M3 gets a shock tho, cos his accelerates at warp 9.6, but not in a straight line straight ahead, at a slight angle towards the traffic lights, maybe slightly sideways
I drive up the road a bit and wait at the roundabout, its only like 500 yards away, and about 30 secs later Mr M3 comes along side, "driving like miss dasiy" .He absolutely refuses to look at me, and pulls away very slowly, which I match round the roundabout
We both go straight on, but go different ways at next roundabout (only another 200 yards or so).
This for me reinforced why I bought the scoob, cos in the wet its still a bloody safe car to drive quickly, where as the M3 looked like it was maybe just a little bit more of a handful.

reading some of the earlier post it seems that STAGE 1 says that big BHP is what matters????
an i right to understand that or do i read it wrong????
but a bentley red label had 400bhp!!! wow !!! big car
so power to weight ratio its 166 ish to the ton!!
so my MY97 turbo with 208 bhp give over 170 to the tone!!! and at a price that is the cost of a new wing mirror LOL on the LOVELY but v. expencive £150K Bentley!!!
size isnt everything!
just ask John Felstead!! in his westy!!!
so to go on about nothin'
Phil

You do not know what your getting yourself into there mate, why not challenge Stage 1 to a contest ?
On the Ferrari thing,
Drove an F355 on the track a couple of weeks back, what's all the fuss about ? didn't seem very fast to me, and was pants round the corners - like a softly sprung barge.
Didn't seem any faster than the Impreza to be honest. Maybe it was limited ? they said it wasn't.
Oh, I can definitely vouch for the fact that they sound fantastic on full chat from the outside (shame you can't hear it inside )
(As you can see I was a little unimpressed )
Formula Renault - ahh, now your talking that is a fast absolutely terrifying thing. Wow, lots of G's !! And that was rev limited to 4K !!

Buddy,
I don't know you.
you don't know me and start labelling me as something I'm not.
I just get tired sometimes of how dismissive a lot of owners are of other SERIOUSLY good cars.
Sometimes these lads aspire to owning cars like yours, otr anyones on here - and they want to see how quick they will go.
You must've been like that sometime.
But I'm not the new Stage 1. Please don't ever offend me like that again
Although if there was ever a little challenge on, I'm sure he'd be up for it.
And I would leave you for dead

Craig,
If I have offended you I opologise, I didnt set this page up for an argument , I think it has offset its purpose as that many comments have been made.I tell you now I respect any subaru owner on the road import or not because this is the best car I have ever owned its like being a biker round my area people just nod and wave in scoobs , that gives a good feeling, I would like it to stay that way.
Regards

Buddy,
You haven't offended me - I was generalising - this post helped.
I'm rarely serious - hence the smilies - don't take it to heart!
And I will still leave you for dead

I only wanted to open peoples eyes to other cars abilities and not to generalise their owners - I really enjoyed the M5 which was an amazing car
Shame my little stage 1 chipped cosworth is so much faster

Stage 1
But that's only because yours is a puny stage1 , if you had a *real* cossie with big power you'd shat yourself
Buddy / Robski etc
Don't believe a word stage 1 says, everyone knows you need *loads* more BHP in a cossie to see off an Impreza , stage 1 is all talk he's just trying to intimidate you, bet if it came to it on track he'd find an excuse not to turn up !

Sunil,
wasnt having a pop at M3s. I really like the new one, and if I could afford one just to use in the dry (bit like Mikey R and his cossie ) then I would have one. But then, where would I get my thrills from in the wet?
The wet for me is when I have most fun in the scoob, the fact that it is so planted is what I enjoy.
I cant dispute that the M3 is a better drivers car, its a shame really that they are not USUALLY driven by better drivers, just more successful sales reps. (Not that theres anything wrong with sales reps, he says before he gets flamed!)

Different people like different things
I like my cossie in the dry because it is kind of planted - I love it in the rain because it has the same interface with the road as a puck to an air hockey table!
Makes for involved driving
