Just sold my van on Friday. Big motorhomes have done the scooby thing. They used to get you a bit of street cred, but now every 17 YO with a baseball hat on backwards has one. I wanted to spend the proceeds on a special order of blue smarties. Her indoors thinks we should waste it on pensions and investment for the future and **** like that

Because then you wouldn't get to walk and mountain bike all over the UK.

Just because you have a TV doesn't mean you have to watch it all day. I believe even some hotel rooms have TV's in them.

I can do this without a caravan.

Why would you need one? Am I missing something?

Good question lee. Mainly the TV, lol. Sorry, I'm not being an ****, I'm just happy with a tent for the outdoor experience atm, and I don't seem to be able to get a decent sized TV in mine

I find my outdoor experience enhance by getting away from the TV

Well, that's my point. Why do you need it if you're out and about - i.e. on holiday. Things like that are what you go on holiday to get away from I'd always thought.

Caravaners always seem to have a TV. It's a home away from home. Don't you watch Top Gear UB

Yep but we go away most weekends of the year not just for main holidays and you sometimes run into a bit of weather. It also leaves you the option of watching a bit of TV after the pub or bbq if she's gone to bed with an headache.

Most of the question I've answered above, we love the outdoors and started in tents and then trailer tents and have been caravanning for years and caravan all year. January is a bit cold for the tent.

Tents can be quite cosy with the right gear. January in the UK is mild. Now February, that can be a wee bit chilly at times

I remember the time I camped at the Elephant Rally, now that was a bit cold

Sorry replied to the wrong thread above.

Yeh we did some hardy tenting in the past but my near 40 year old bones are getting on a bit and we like full thermostat controlled central heating and a full domestic double bed.
Hardly hardcore I know.

A bit more comfy than an airbed. Think of those bones.

Just no taste whatsoever!

Isn't it possible to buy a caravan or motorhome with some decent coverings and colours from, say, Fired Earth or Farrow & Ball, and an AGA rather than that "traveller" stuff?

Yep a range of colours and upholstery available as well as wood and worktop options and they usually swap them round every few years.

They are library pics, I went for a burgundy and cream interior with darker wood.
Also have a range of leather options.

The European vans tend to be more contempory, the UK vans more traditional.
