I used to get return waves all the time a couple of years ago when I had my classic, now I have a blob eye STi and no one waves. I even get shuned looks from other blob drivers.
No fun in the north east. I think they are all boring bast~~ds that or all up there own ars~s.
Maybe its the graphics? Oh well they can

In Hull the bug-eyes onwards were often weekday wives cars, so they blank you. D1CCY always waved to me, but I was usually asleep....LOL.
Perhaps my bug-eye is regarded as not "Classic Cool", or brand spanking new...
Now I find most don't wave 'cos I'm an old duffer and they wouldn't look cool.. ?
Worried that Scoob owning is becoming a bit chav ?

Hey Elmer,
my little sis says that they ALL have tints, boomin' stereos, and bling wheels + loud exhaust !
Three out of four aint bad, can't afford the tints.
Excuse 1.
My neighbours have little kids, so loud stereo in the car now...
Excuse 2.
I like my wheels, don't care about gold rally slag look. ( Car is black)...
Excuse 3.
Health & Safety Law requires that a Subaru burble be heard clearly heard by the masses...

I must agree get more waves from folk in EVO's than ROO's, never had a wagon reply the gesture yet. Blokes in suits find it difficult as well, maybe it is because it's a woman driving one.

How do all!
Guess this is as good a topic as any to introduce my first reply!
I just got my 1998 Impreza last night, and our town (Armagh, Northern Ireland) is getting fairly common with Scooby's of all pre '05.
Anyway, waving....I passed 2 Impreza's gave a wave and a nod in that order, and got the same back. All good. hehe

Don't do the wave, proper gay!
Just a quick flash of the lights or,
If you just notice a scoob at last minute as you're driving past,
give 'em the scooby nod!

I agree that a full on "Hiya guys!" wave is completely proper gay indeed, but a wee flick of the hand to say 'S'up'....thats a 'wave' technically, and is as much as is needed.

Hi all,you have me in stitches,
when Im out driving, Im in my own little world and quite often dont see the scooby nod, until it was too late.Paul always has a go at me!!!Like many of you I think it cheers him up.ha ha.Its got to the point where the kids will be on the look out to tell me when one is comming.
So Im sorry to all that I have ignored, its not on purpose,I had a classic wagon before the bugeyed I now drive and I was the same in that.

The Scooby Wave has died!
I've decided to give up myself after at least 50 fruitless waves in a row. I'm fed up of looking like a sad muppet.
I think when everybody had a classic they all waved. Then bugs stopped waving at classics, blobs stopped waving at bugs and hawks stopped waving at blobs and everyone stopped waving at chavs!
Oh well, I might start waving at buses instead

The wave is one of the things that sold me on an Impreza - first one I test drove I got three waves. I waved at a couple the other day forgetting I was driving a work van, not my car. Fantastic... how many other car makes can there be with that sense of community? We can't and mustn't let it die out!

Well, Ive got an Evo and a Scooby,
I only generally wave to people who I can clearly see are into there scoobies, i.e modded cars, sti's special editions etc.
Most in my area will give a wave back, doesnt matter which car im driving, its fairly easy to predict who will wave and who wont.
Being a biker also, the nod is very important to us

There's nothing chav about owing a Impreza, Scoob, Scooby, or Legacy, they are fun cars to own/drive, and whats wrong with a friendly wave to another Subaru owner, its not ghey or sad. Most owners do still wave no matter which year car they have. The ppl that dont flash or wave back are the sad ones.

I will always try the raised right hand of the steering wheel rather than a full blown I'm your best buddy wave and I seem to get a response 50% of the time. Mainly classics and sti's.
My brother borrowed the car for about 20 minutes last sunday to drop his step son off at his friends and was amazed at the acknowledgments from other motorists. His quote "A guy in an Evo gave a respectful nod too, gotta get one of these".
It seems to me any jap car enthusiast will try and acknowledge another.
