Death of the Scooby Wave

The Scooby Wave has died!:(
I've decided to give up myself after at least 50 fruitless waves in a row. I'm fed up of looking like a sad muppet.

I think when everybody had a classic they all waved. Then bugs stopped waving at classics, blobs stopped waving at bugs and hawks stopped waving at blobs and everyone stopped waving at chavs!

Oh well, I might start waving at buses instead:lol1:

Andy T 08 June 2007 12:53 PM

I still wave and give a flash of the lights - most still reponsed in return.
But I do drive a Wagon thou :)

Dannybwoy 08 June 2007 12:56 PM

I know how you feel mate

I wave at all scoobs i see, but i say the return rate is about 50%, maximum.

Worst people of all, or owners (and i am sorry for generalising) are P1 owners. I regularly see two, one on my way to work, one round where i live, neither wave, neither even acknowledge me, and i know they have seen me.

I tend to get most of my waves back from Classics.

Tidgy 08 June 2007 12:57 PM

most wave in the midlands :D

STi wanna Subaru 08 June 2007 12:58 PM

Flaps 08 June 2007 01:02 PM

I got a few waves in Rotherham the other day but none anywhere else.
I wave first and if they don't wave back then I turn my wave into tapping on the steering wheel so it looks like i'm listening to something on the stereo, I find that less demoralising and get less 'what are you doing you ****' stares from other drivers this way :lol1:

D6ale 08 June 2007 01:06 PM

This has been discussed loads, i always wave, if you dont wave back then nevermind.
Classics do wave more often than newage though!

stilover 08 June 2007 01:10 PM

Most don't wave back to me either.

Started waiting till they wave first. Saves feeling like a muppet.

Dan W 08 June 2007 01:26 PM

I wave at any cars I particularly approve of,
Scoobys, evos skylines, old fords, clssic cars,

I don't care what I look like.

I would rather wave and get no wave in return instead of being waved at and not waving back. It all makes the world just that little less unfriendly

Elmer Fudpucker 08 June 2007 01:26 PM

stop waving it's ghey, stop referring to them as 'Scoobys' as it's soo lame:rolleyes:

..and let me get on to enjoy my car please:mad:

WRX Blues 08 June 2007 02:08 PM

I was right - it's dead alright - look at Elmer Fudgepackers reply:lol1:

Snazy 08 June 2007 02:32 PM

I still get a flash or a wave in reply most time in London :)

AllyJ 08 June 2007 02:40 PM

well we must be a friendly bunch in Essex, I think I have had a wave from every scooby I pass, I do always wave first tho :thumb:

Only time i can def remember NOT getting one back was from a woman, must be the other 'arf who obviously hates driving her husbands go kart :lol1:

scoobfan 08 June 2007 05:40 PM

Promlem is, most of them are now driven by skanky young louts, as the prices have fallen.

Hence the bad image they now have.:(

shanea 08 June 2007 06:07 PM

Agree with Tidgy, I get at least 4 waves a week in the Midlands :thumb:

MY,k436suy 08 June 2007 06:09 PM

I've only ever had awave off an old boy in a face lift classic and there's a few various models around here too. When i brought my classic i payed around 8 1/2 k for it so it wasn't "cheap" (and i'm not a "chav":lol1: ) by any means and that was purchased completley standard (although that was a few years ago now) but i still have her as it was IMHO the classic that made the impreza and the model i love. I think some of it is snobbery, and im almost at the point of not waving anymore so as to not look a muppet either.
Wave, dont wave, i'm past caring.

SC008Y_MAD 08 June 2007 06:17 PM

Its like sombody turned off the scooby wave :(

I wave and I get at least 50%-60% waves back from impreza drivers.

shoeburyscoob 08 June 2007 06:21 PM

we wave but sooo true less are waving bac :(

Fishface 08 June 2007 06:23 PM

scubasteve 08 June 2007 07:05 PM

Around York were still freindly in our SCOOBS <(fao Elmer Nutcracker) only thing is alot of Farmers drive em round here and they dont understand whats happening and just give funny looks.

The Dogs B******s 08 June 2007 07:18 PM

Im from Harrogate and had three waves yesturday and one today, all from different subaru's. Its not dead, its because newbies like me are/wern't aware that subaru drivers wave to each other,so once you start waving your always on the lookout for subaru's

Hmm... must be me doing something wrong then, hardly anyone in Rotherham waves at me.. when I've waved at them! There's been one or two.. but everyone else just looks at me like I'm a freak or something! :freak3:

Stop giving them the w*nker sign then

what would scooby do 08 June 2007 07:52 PM

Waving is too dangerous when you have a mobile in one hand and a can of stella in the other.

Besides, new labour will probably outlaw waving soon.

Pav 08 June 2007 07:52 PM

I got my first scoob last Thursday, and my first wave Monday morning in Aberdeen. Got to say it made me smile!! (how sad do I sound):o
