Emily evicted but.....

What kind of daft bitch would have said that anyway, give the Shilpa Shetty thing in which there were no direct racist terms used, Jade goody was unpleasant to Shilpa Shetty, big deal, Jade Goody is quite unpleasant from my point of view as well, not as unpleasant as her tearful retractions and subsequent trip to India.

Is it ok? no......but who cares about the "why cant whites say it" issue......what white person wants to be able to say it????
so lets say blacks are allowed this little "privilege"....is it that big a deal? The only ones who wish to use it are the low expectation having ****** anyway.
I wouldnt trade being white for the ability to say "******" to someone else.
I fail to see why so many people care about that issue...the same folks who say the MOBOs are racist
As a white person you cant call a black person "******".....but you avoid just about any form of prejudiced behavior in general and can work in any field you like without being held back (apart from being a rapper!)
As a black person you can say ****** (although you look like a **** doing it) but then have to deal with the issues of being black at a time when there is still huge barriers in the way of going where you want in life.
Moaning that white people cant say ****** is like saying that blind people get free dogs and it aint fair. I am pretty sure most black people would happily give up the word forever for a chance of some real equality.

ohh...and i'm not some tree hugging PC nut.....i dont even KNOW a black person! and cant remember the last black person i spoke to that wasnt working on a till. But i do know that when i'm in some posh London hotel on a business conference surrounded by other people all making stupid amounts of cash.....there are no black faces, and i am glad i'm white for how easy it makes life in the UK.

Why for instance, is it generally considered "potentially racially motivated assault" (i.e. beating up someone of a different race) is worse than plain assault of someone of the same race? If you want true equality, you can't have one rule for people of one race and one for the other, be it what people should and shouldn't be allowed to say, or should and shouldn't be allowed to do. That cuts all ways, pro/anti asian, black, white whatever.

no - my argument is that black people feel that being called ****** by a white person is offensive. On that basis alone...dont do it.....and why on earth would you care that you cant?

Your getting it wrong mate, its not that white people want to call black people *******, but they call each other it all the time, and in there songs which they peddle to white teenagers. These teenagers pick up and learn the word then call black people it, thinking it is ok, then they get a backlash, but there heros who are black are rapping about it all the time.
The blacks need to stop give the word pro status, before whites will stop saying it.

So they are basing whether or not to take offence on the basis of the colour of the skin of the person saying it. Racist in itself shirley. The term is either racist or not.

Agree pretty well with Jonno and agree absolutely with Dracoro - a term is either racist or not.
Or to take race out of the equation, a term is either offensive or not - which is what it effectively boils down to. Is it OK to offend someone on other basis than race? In this case, as I understand things, the other people in that conversation said they weren't offended, and it seems the term wasn't meant ofensively. So how is that any different from standard "banter" between lads up the pub when they call their mate "an ugly B8st8rd", for example?
Rhino - I'll assume you're just not getting the point or being deliberately obtuse. It's not a matter of caring whether we can use the term - it's not something I've ever called or wanted to call anyone that I can remember. The point is why is it OK for someone black to use it and not for someone white to use it. I.e. one rule for people of one race, and a different rule for people of another, which exactly fits the definition of racism.

you are being sucked into the hoha....thats NOT what C4 said.
They evectied her for saying it TO charlie and thus, in their opinion, breaking the show rule about causing potential offense to viewers/housemates.
If she slapped herself she wouldnt be evicted....if she slapped Ziggy - she would be (even if ziggy said...its ok, i dont mind!)
i dont care for PC but anyone that cant see the difference between a white girl calling a black girl a ****** and a black girl calling herself one in the context of what had just been said to her is as daft as the pc brigade themselves.

Ive read various threads on various forums and I cant understand why people cant come to terms with it!
What people dont seem to understand is that BB has to respond to such remarks and treat them as seriously as they should be treated or the viewing masses will be under the impression that they condone such behaviour and impressionable/young people may go out and star using such comments thinking it is socially acceptable.
Regardless if it was a single word or and hours long racist rant doesnt matter a jot, it is the fact that someone has made a comment which could insight racial hatred. The context in which the comment was used is irrelevant aswell as it is not the person saying the comment that can decide whether it is offensive or not but the audience (the girl she was saying it to or the viewing public)
You use the acid test when opening your mouth:-
*Would you say it in front of your mum
*Would you say it to your children
*Does this need to be said at all
In my opinion BB shouldnt have shown it but edited it out as they do with a large percentage of the footage and quietly dealt with the matter using the same punishment.

Thats just childish - there are many examples of some people being able to do something and some people not.
Women can touch other women in a way that would get men slapped
Parents can punish children in a way that would get non parents arrested
and people of the same race can speak to each other in a way that would get people of a different race thrown of a TV show.
live with it - it may be 2007 but men are not women, whites are not blacks and dogs are not cats.......it shouldnt be that confusing - if you are a white man make sure you dont wander into the ladies loo, dont sniff a dogs **** and dont call a 7ft black man a ******.
