But having not driven either your comments are worth pretty much nothing. You have no concept of how either car drives apart from what you've heard other people saying ... so I take it you go to interviews and go "yeh i've heard the job is easy so I reakon I'd be good at it"

Whatever. You are right and people who actually have driven these cars are wrong. Best of luck in life!

Gangsta, which T25 have you driven? The original MK1 car with approx 350BHP or the new MK2 car with the Cosworth lump pushing out around 415BHP?

Whilst you are all on the subject of tuning the Fq400 can be tuned to pump out nearly 500bhp reliably. Try achieving that in an MR with a 2k budget!!!
Have a look on the MLR and you will see that the FQ400 warranty comes in very useful.

Right at some point in the near future, me in my classic sti with around 390bhp will be going up against an fq400.
Lets see how fast it is really is but if i go by what gangsta smurf is saying, it should make me look like im going backwards yeah right!

the fq 400's lag problem is easily solved as im sure its been stated it has a motec ecu wich can support both anti lag mild or wild and launch control wich enables it to get off the line very quickly. they are a 1 off a prize possesion and not to be driven daily although some are im sure but as there are only 67 in the world i doubt we'l see them often on the m25. there just a standard fq model that has forged internals a bigger turbo and better brakes being controlled by a motec ecu. all of this stuff is available off the shelf but the difference is if you decide to do it yourself it still be a fq 320 or whatever base you chose losing you the exclusiveness. they are fast and 0-60 under 3.8 seconds is fast so lag cant be that much of a isue can it. dont beleive what clarcson tells you as it would be the same in a buggati with the lag.that was just a spitefull thing to do and has no relavence. all turbos have lag

lag... did someone mention lag....

I got a free neck brace with mine- marvellous on track but bloody horrid to drive on the road- although I have a twin plate paddle clutch that isn't really ideal for road use.

There was a guy with an extreme 400 used to come to a lot of our trackdays, but never saw it on track- he's pull in to the pitlane, pass the garages, and pull back out again; they really are that lairy. Excellent

It crossed my mind...

The boss was quite generous this year with the salary review and bonus. That coupled with the fact that we now have a new born baby girl (woo hoo!!!) and so do not go out as much now, means I now have more disposable income.

Had the curent Scoob (330bhp) now for 1.5 years and had the previous one (c230bhp) for just over 2.5 years and so an extra few horses would come in handy as you do get used to them!!!

I have been doing some more research and realise there is an MR FQ 360 which seems to be a better option all round perhaps...

Mitsubishi Lancer Register Forum - powered by vBulletin

Probably wont bother but it is always nice to create an argument on here!!!

Notwithstanding, my thoughts on which Evo to start with would be to get as strong a standard one as possible then modify. So put simply, I would start with a standard 400ish bhp model as a benchmark.

P/X on a WR Blue MY04 WRX STi 8 with TSL 333 (330 bhp) anyone...

Cheers for the resonses everyone.

My Evo 7 was the same. With around 400bhp and track suspension and twin plate clutch it was a bitch in traffic, but awesome on the open road. Any well specced evo will provide nigh on ninety percent of the 400s performance at a much lower cost. As I already have said Extreme are extremely adept at making lairy evos with huge performance.

I'm using it every day at the moment and its really not ideal; as soon as I have enough spare for a IX I'll acquire one... although maybe not a 360 for many of the reasons above. Although I know the mate I bought it from had spent an awful lot of money on it, I never appreciated quite how much, or how quick it was (I'd never been in it or driven it before I bought it)

Having driven an early Type 25, and still owning a 2.5STi, the Impreza is much more pleasent to drive.

When asked which I prefer (when I had the Evo VI and an STi) I always replied that I preferred the Evo if I felt the need to drive round the block like my **** was on fire- but the Impreza if I have to do more than five miles- and I'll stand by that.

It's the Impreza's greater all round ability that wooed me back. Dynamically not quite as good as the evo but it does the mundane stuff better.

Looks awesome though.

FQ400 vs FQ340

on the whole the FQ-340 still had the edge in these tests
The result was the FQ-340 comprehensively out accelerated the FQ-400 in every in-gear acceleration test.
the lag from the FQ-400's turbo meant that for every in-gear acceleration test the FQ-340 out accelerated the FQ-400 for almost 2/3rds of the acceleration run.

Crikey, whats the issue with people having a different opinion!

would it be better if we all just agreed with you?!?! If you dont want people to put something that opposes your view dont post it on SN! John Banks has pretty much put everyone in their place.

But this is funny, so may be keep going, the 'throwing the dummy out of the pram attitude' is great!

PMSL !!!!!

Some people should indeed learn to save their breath trying to stop others having an opinion and use that time to learn how to drive their car better.

Difference on which is the faster car is located between the steeringwheel and the driver's seat.
