Sid will be very hesitant to tell his partner about the affair. Firstly, it's not easy to break her heart, even when he may not love her,the way he did once upon a time. Secondly, he may be scared of the aggravation it will cause. He is in a difficult situation. But, he is better off telling her, with the aim to get out of the relationship.
I do think that Sid's view of just meeting someone and seeing a soulmate in her/him is not a very mature view. Not criticising you, Sid. Just pointing out that it takes a while to see if someone is your soulmate or not. In such case where you have no complaint with your present partner, when you just think that she is not the one, as you have met more suitable person, I think you need to make a break from your GF. One of those days, you will leave her anyway for her not being what you want. So, don't leave it too late. You may cry for days after splitting with her for the sake of good old times, she may too; after learning about the let down and hurt you cause her. But at the end of the day, you will be happy with the one you want for now, she will find a new man (perhaps more loyal partner, who may think that she is the one for him). Set her free, and set yourself free IMO.
BTW, it does happen sometimes that the person, whose pride has been ripped into pieces may beg you to stay. Only because they are scared of losing you, and their wounded pride needs healing. Just remember to stick to your grounds, tell her that you are no good for her, because you cheated on her. Then walk out

Just so you know, its not been a whim, Ive been seeing her on and off fo a few years now.

 

^This affirms my opinion that you need to get out of your main relationship for the benefit of the three of you.

You did ask in one of your posts -"Don't you just meet someone and think that they are your soulmate?" Therefore, I commented in relation to this in my previous post.

 

If it has been going on for ages on and off then maybe she is the one for you.... Bare in mind that you may not be the one for her!!!!! You need to tell the other woman how you feel and see how she reacts because you finishing with your lady may be a huge mistake at this present moment. If you are cheating then clearly she ain't the right one but don't finish with her before you van reason with your emotions!

A couple years ago our secretary was taken ill, so we ended up hiring a temp. A quite pretty 26 year old, who was engaged to her boyfriend.

After a couple weeks to get to know her, I started flirting with her via email (great invention ) and she started flirting back.

After another couple of weeks of major flirting we started having lunch time liaisons in the Female toilets (no other females in the building) which lasted about 3 months.

When she left, we ended it. She wasn't prepared to leave her boyfriend (for reason I won't go into).

Still, regular sex for 3 months while at work was very enjoyable indeed

ive been in the very situation, was in a relationship for 11 years that was falling apart around my ears, we had 2 kids and i wasnt big enough to leave as i would be on my own.
met a really nice girl, left the wife and took that chance, didnt work out but my life is better, im still good friends with the women i left wife for and ive got a lot to look forward too. if it wasnt for finding this other women and taking that chance i would be stuck in a crap marriage going no where.
