I bought my Scoob through a good importer as I didn't trust the ones I saw in the UK. I think I did well - car is completely as described, apart from maybe the condition of the brakes and clutch, i.e. consumables that I had budgeted for. It'd be rare for someone to spend a fortune on new brakes and a clutch and then sell it.

 

Actually I sold my TVR Cerbera a couple of weeks ago for exactly that reason. Had it 3.5 years and fancied a change

That's one of the best pieces of advice I've seen on this forum.

 

I felt a bit guilty when the 406 blew up, but when I realised you were drag racing it and buzzed the revs with a mis-shift I didn't feel guilty (I know people underestimate the 3.0 V6 ...) I think the seat heater used to heat one half of the seat, but other than that everything seemed fine, and I like the buyer to know what they're getting.

I do tell it like it is when I sell a car though, and have been returned the favour for a few cars I've bought used which is really nice. It is nice when someone's idea of condition matches yours and you get exactly what you expected over the phone.

When shopping for an M3 at dealers, almost anything over 7000 miles was obviously quite used by my standards, and I had a real nightmare finding a good one even at that mileage.

I still miss that car John - it had a special kind of clout and also pulled harder than the V6 I replaced it with. I still think they are a cracking buy for the money and I was tempted again recently on the back of my 'what beater' thread. I think having killed two already I was just asking for trouble - that and the fact I'd have the best intentions of sticking to 30mpg+ but would never manage it

That day at crail is still one of my worst days and yet also one of my fondest on account of Gregor. Gregor was the 'new money' M Coupe (Z3) owner who, to cheer me up, took me down the strip and attempted to drift the return whereupon he t-boned probably the nicest EK9 Civic Type-R in the country completely destroying it. There's nothing quite like someone elses misfortune to put your own in perspective

i knew i would just get in it and go "weeeeeeeeeee" jumping from a 1.7td vectra to a 276bhp wrx
