Excellent news re the £30 on the spot fine!
In a bid to get these illegally spaced / sized / fonted plates we need:

1) More fines need handing out on the spot (increased to £60 please)
2) This needs to be more strictly controlled at MOT's
3) Companies who manufacture illegal plates should be licensed and controled - given a 3 strikes than banned from trading policy and four figure fines for company owners.
4) Repeat offenders should have their cars impounded and crushed...

This country has been too soft on crap plates for too long hence the large number of people taking the ****, just to see how far they can push it...

Only up their own **** tossers who think they're cool get a private plate then mess with the spacing so it reads differently. Fact is everybody else on the road thinks you're a ******. Grow up and stop trying to think you're cool

Thumbs up

3/4 size plates can be read fine imo... Dunno what all the fuss is about, aslong as the font is readable...???
They can read bike plates ffs...!!! lol

The police wanna sort out cars that arn't insured etc... real crime... not those who have abit of extra cash to spend on their cars and make them look alittle different...

I run a 3/4 size plate up front on my car... never had any bother with it...
Apart from that my car is 100% legal...

Thats a bit better - now, work on your grammar - when refering to I it is a capital letter, not i

And what has my P1 got to do with your bad spelling?
Hmm! Perhaps you should check your own grammar before slating off someone else mate?
1. Thats....................should that not be .....that's...?
2. Referring................I think you'll find that's double R.

Unfortunately its just another easy way for the police to make up their crime numbers for the stats.
...which ironically IS properly spaced...

Stick on ones are fine... if at the correct angle. I had one on a Vauxall Shovette in the 80's and it failed as the plate was angled too far back on the bonnet... needs to be very nearly vertical. On the bumper might be ok!

If you have to mess about with your plate in a feeble attempt to get it to 'read' something then, I'm afraid, you should buy the plate that says it without messing about.
Exactly!

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/lea...mberplates.pdf

The above DVLA document is in simplified form but you will need to read the full regulations. Regulation 14 applies to UK Cars and 14A applies to Imports.

IIRC the Above states plates FITTED, but believe it's should read Car registered

1) Sorrry just because a number Plate Passes MOT or VOSA inspections doesn't mean it's road legal

2) Square Plates are legal for certain Imports that don't have European Communnity Whole Vehicle type approval (see Reg 14A)

IIRC AFAICR

Hi,

Im using the Subaru Headlight Guards which have a dark cover over parts of the lights. You can buy them from any Subaru dealer... and stop stone chips from wrecking a unit cos the covers take the grunt.

There is another way of doing it which involves taking your headlights apart and spraying the inside black... either or really. I prefer the covers because i can remove them easyly if i want... but the spraying way makes them much darker.

hope that helps a little.
Cheers mate, i'll get the stanley out

Incidentally, since getting my plate four years ago i've noticed that around one in ten cars seem to have a private plate around here (South Yorkshire), many of these have incorrect spaces on them too. Looks like there may be a few fines getting handed out!

This to me means points on my licence.

Any one else heard this???

It's one thing getting an on the spot fine, but points is another subject.

Easy money. Incorrect number plate spacing worse than murder I'm afraid.
Time to stick 2 fingers up I think!
