Me again lol! Thanks for your help so far people. Off at a tangent here but I have a m8 who makes his own biofuel and thus has Methanol to hand. Would it be any use for me to add any to the fuel tank by way of additional dillution and to up the octane levels of the remaining (estimated 5 or 6 Litres) Diesel now?
Any thoughts welcomed please and thankyou.

Right the Scooby's a go again! Thanks ALi-B the access to the fuel tanks was indeed behind and beneath the uprights of the back seats (remember this is a P Reg Wagon).
I Hand filled the New fuel filter with a syringe and the local fuel pipes in the engine bay and primed her by switching the ignition a couple of times and the old girl fired and stalled at the first turn of the key! She then limped along on the second until after a minute or so of emulating a smoke generator she started running more sweetly and is now seemingly none the worse for my ballsup?
Thanks again people!

Bit of meths would do no harm. 5% max mix though IMO otherwise it messes up the closed loop control of the engine (as the OS sensor will detect too much oxygen and over-enrich the fuel mixture) . It is rather corrosive, so the rubber in the fuel lines and injector seals may not take kindly to much higher strengths.

Remember Tesco 99Ron (Momentum) is already 5% ethanol. (ethanol and methanol are both pretty similar). So keep that in mind if that is the base fuel.

Just be careful with handling meths, it does leach through the skin. Ethanol makes you drunk, but Methanol will make you go blind.

I think you can buy a restrictor for the fuel filler to prevent this happening on imports, might be worth it if you think lightning is liable to strike twice!

Bet your relieved after all that

Yep, relieved Matt thanks.
The restrictor is a good idea for an air head like me to be honest!
I'll look into it.

I had a mate who did this on an import wrx few years ago, he was lucky and only put a fivers worth into an empty tank so got away with brimming it and taking it easy. Just goes to show its easily done!

I'm dead paranoid I'll put petrol in my daily runner(diesel berlingo) since getting scoob, luckily as its a UK scoob I'd have to try really hard to put diesel in that!
