All those and more. The work is a composite of around ten different reference materials, personal study and a couple of serious textbooks.

Oh, and some artistic interpretation.

Sorry I haven't updated for over a week, but I've been getting limited time in the shed. I've been doing the back of the head and in the process I noticed that the left and right sides of the head didn't match, in that the backs of the jaws were at two different levels on the opposite sides. That couldn't be allowed to happen - I had another crisis, in fact. So, I've had to take drastic steps and it's taken a lot of work. I've altered the mouth line on the flesh side - it's not quite there yet, but I'm much happier now.

Respect. Don't know how you've got the patience!

What happens if you "do a Venus de Milo" and accidentally hack a huge piece off? Do you use woodjoiner's glue to stick it back... Or the 'high school method's' sawdust & glue 'pills'

Trust me, unless it's something like a tooth, then it'd be extremely difficult to knock any large lumps off it. I thought I'd gone a bit mad with the chainsaw the other day but got away with it. If it did happen to be a tooth, then I'd have to glue it.

It'd have to be worth a lot of quid. There's about 200 hours in it so far, but I'm not a fast carver. I've done about three hours on the back of the head tonight and I'm fairly happy with how it's going, but it's not as engrossing as doing detail work. I might treat myself to a bit of skin and scale work for a while, but I won't get in the shed again till Friday.

I've already got a couple of youtube vids - search Bubba Dinosaur head.

It's also on my facebook.

I don't see how I can make a great deal of money out of it, though.

Thanks. I'd like to organise an exhibition tour for it when it's done, and if someone made a good offer for it, I'd consider selling it.

I reckon it'll appeal to someone. I mean reaaally appeal, in that they'll pay decent moolah.

Surely it could sell for <£500 to the 'right' punter? No?

You're joking You can get £500 for two days putting someone's kitchen in. It'd have to be at least a couple of grand.

That's only on the medium/small scales. I'm going to use a couple of punches I've ground for the really small scales.

Sure sure - I agree!

But the reason for my quoted low price was because I thought you said/eluded earlier that you didn't reckon you'd be able to sell it (if you wanted too) i.e. you came across as pessimistic(?)

I sold my last one (not a patch on this one) for £500. I just can't imagine anyone having the disposable income or the will to pay what it's worth in time alone.

I agree... I could picture that in one of those upper class wood sculpture shops amoungst eagles and other carved animals with a tag asking for 2.5k and I wouldn't be suprised. The market like you said is so small, it would have to be a person specifically going out to buy said item.

It's too cold to work on it tonight and they're predicting a proper cold snap for a few days. So frustrating!
