How mad does MAX POWER vehicles.....?

My name's Nick and I'd like to confess to fitting far too much noise making stuff in my 1.4 Fiesta.
I had no boot left at all, in fact the cabinets were actually bigger than the original boot cavity.
I had a Kenwood sticker, too.
The Scoob is the first car that I've actually modified in any "performance enhancing" or "look enhancing" way. P1 wheels, induction kit (definitely Max P) and scoobysport back box.

juan,
I did try to make it look better by putting some cavalier commander wheels on it other than that it was standard and crap, it was even metallic gold with brown trim!
I know exactly why the max-lot do it but I never drove like a tw@t like some of those t0553rs.
as for being just into posh cars that is not the case, I've had all sorts of sheds and like lots of other cars (Ibiza Cupra's are cool as are 205 GTi's etc) and I have also been on the rock and role at one point.
oooh, 1.3 cavalier ! munster munster
oh, and my cavaliers brakes didn't work and the floor was like a big holey-type thing

I'll grant you some are n0bs, like the supermarket car park brigade etc. guess they're bored and hopeless as the country deteriorates into anarchic oblivion with the cops being locked up for speaking too loudly at the tearaways as they thieve, maim and generally p1ss everyone off. Seems there's 2 different things being moaned about here.
one is their cars. I have no problem with anyones motor, whether its a pushbike with a scooby bonnet scoop on it or a Porker GT3.
two is the dangerous drivers. Sure I agree these guys are @rses and should be banned. its not just them though. They're not the ones right up your jacksie on the motorway normally. That's your older pen1s variety, and he / she is even more dangerous if you ask me. Anyone within a couple of cars lengths of the person in front on a motorway should be given an instant ban
edited to add that the 'person' that started the thread has a problem with the cars, not the driving. Thats what bugged me and hence the snobby accusation. no offence aimed at yerself

Started with a Mini 1000 Mayfair
More halogen spots than you could shake a stick at. Had to have the idle speed set up around 1500 just so it wouldn't stall if you turned them all on when stationary.
Brighter than Dave T-S latest morrette HID setup and could burn paint off the car in front.
The number of time I drive the same country lanes now and wish I had those lights

4. I *hate* seeing Nova's (in particular...they are my pet hate anyway so I thought I'd pick on the horrible little things ) with Impreza bonnet vents etc, wonder where they got it from?
They get them from Max power adverts!

Do you believe in democracy?
Then dwell on the fact that Max Power is easily the biggest selling motoring magazine in Britain, with average sales of 215,558 a month from Jan-to-June this year. This is almost 50,000 more than nearest rival Top Gear, and OVER FOUR TIMES as many as Evo mag.
Do you still believe in democracy?
Richard.

I have nothing against MP cars, its the drivers I get p*ssed off with...
It just seems that the cars which are over the top and look like a Halfords adverts are the guys that drive up your exhaust (When you stop for a junction etc) or overtake when something is coming the other way etc.. and generally have no respect for others...
I remember buying MP's first issue and it was a nice mag with cars tastefully modded.. both looks and performance... you only need look at the cover to see that this is no longer the case..
ho ho JGM

The only real "idiot" that has tried racing me was actually in a nova, a poxy 1.3 in the wet, with 4 people in it
Now dont get me wrong but most of the "lax power" brigade just go for big engine upgrades for their nova, i had my PPP fitted (remembering that the PPP is a dealer option!) because i wanted more mid range grunt, now i have that i went for the bigger brakes (brembo 4 pots) which now stop me even better than the subaru 4pots But my main gripe is that my car stops, wet or dry, very quickly and with no problems (not even with the abs kicking in!) maybe its cos my tyres cost more than most novas but the nova that was 3 inches off my bumper wouldnt have stopped in time if id have braked hard (i just outpaced him then slowed for the roundabout).

JGM... good point, the mag probably did start off well but got crap from then on. I think the same thing happened with Redline, first few issues where pretty good and then the t055ers took over.
Tony... my point and gripe exactly. What are you supposed to do in those situations? Let something driven by a tw@t hit you or outpace him? prob is some of the tw@ts have got pretty quick rust buckets and no sense... dangerous combination.

Blimey - Each to his own - i have modded each and every vehicle i have had from a Mk 3 Cortina onwards. Not everyone can afford a Scooby or such like - or the insurance and associated running costs!

My favourite subject - Max Power morons. I'm not going to launch a full out attack as I've not got the time, but basically I have no time for these people. They think just because they stick some bits of crap to their old bangers that this automatically elevates their car to a level playing field with the Impreza, Evo etc.
There's nothing wrong with looking after your car and keeping it in good 'nick' but when it comes down to some of these idiots (not classing everyone under that banner) stealing bonnet scoops to stick on their 1 litre pimp mobiles then the fun wears off. Its funny how the same people always seem have their fog lights on in perfectly clear conditions - I'm sure this is a coincidence, not.
The theft of Impreza parts must have affected some of you out there and when it does you're never going to have sympathy for the Max Power neds. A very small majority are probably decent car enthusiasts, but there is a lot of 'badness' and jealousy out there and that crap bankers mag just makes it worse.

How are you doing these day? not seen you around online for a good while.
Anyway hows your VW these day, hope it is all going well and you have had no further trobles after your original one.
You seem to have stirred up a bit of a wasps nest with this post LOL, but some of the motors ya see about, we got a white fiesta van around us with an impreza bonnet scoop superglued on, god hopw funny, yes by all means have it if you have turbo charged and need it for an intercooler, but other than this where is the sense.
hope hear from you soon Simon

Haven't read all through this but have to agree that the original post was ever so slightly arrogant. Personally have nothing against modding any car irrespective of how tasteless. The main problem is the invinsible attitude of some drivers. I have encountered countless tw@ts who fancy a race but must admit that these have included as many "old shape" Scoobies recently as kids in their Laxed up Nova/Corsa. Modding occurs right the way up the food chain, does no one rate the work of RUF,Gemballa or Hartage?
Would much prefer the spotty kids to have a pride in cars rather than feel the need to run a key along mine or try to steal it.
