Mazda MX-5 1.8 S-VT Sport with added Zoom Zoom
This MK2.5 comes fitted with a MP62 S4 Supercharger and Intercooler
It has only done 15,000 miles from new
The supercharger was fitted in February 2005 by Performance 5 (The MX5 performance specialists)

There are all the bills and receipts for the services, but the service book has not been stamped
All bills for the supercharger, wheels, chrome etc. are present with the vehicle along with any correspondence the previous owner had with Performance 5 (emails etc.)
The original bill of sale is included with the vehicle which was £16,000 in April 2004
The car has had close to £8,000 spent on it and brakes down as follows
Supercharger, exhaust, extra dials and installation £4600
Stlye bar, all the chrome, Eibach suspension and fitting £1350
Wheels and tyres £900
Servicing and all the extras we have forgotten to mention £1000+
The previous owner was a member of the MX5 Owners club, the car was originally a demo vehicle and was sold by the Mazda main dealer at 4,000 miles in April 2004 to the current registered keeper (shows two previous owners but it’s the same family)
There are covers on the leather seats at the moment (not included), the seats (which are black) are in excellent condition with no rips or tears (as you would expect for a 15,000 mile car)
The bad bits:
There is some kerbing on the alloys and a few little chunks out of the wall protectors on the tyres
There is a 1” scratch on the N/S/R wing
There is a slight dent on the drivers door with a 6” light scratch (the scratch will polish out and the dent is not very noticeable)
There is a ½” scratch on the top of the driver’s door
All the above would look 99% better touched in with the correct silver touch in pen from Mazda
Also included are the two original keys and remote for the central locking and boot release
For those who are wondering what a MK2.5 is, it’s the face lifted MK2 (introduced in 2001) you get slightly different front and rear bumpers, different front and rear lights and a few other minor changes cosmetic changes

Hopefully I will be joining you in MX ownership in the next 8 weeks.
Looking for a 1.8 with a budget of £6500.Looks like it will get me a decent(I think) 98 onwards car.Never even driven one yet!

Can only add to the chorus of happy MX5 drivers.
I've got a Mk2 1.8iS, in Red, Factory fit bodykit with Hardtop, in Red. Some kindly person had also fitted a Jackson Racing Exhaust Manifold, Sports cat, Jackson Racing backbox + Pipercross Induction kit.. It is zippy, nimble and a joy to drive!! Makes a nice noise now too!
Only problems I've had is with a ABS Sensor go. Other than that, faultless - even after a month of standing still whilst out in OZ.
Best car I've had, not as fast as my old Legacy but telepathic steering and RWD fun makes up for it. Do it, you'll not regret it!!!
BTW - I'm 6ft 6 and j-u-s-t fit....

TBH it is a female car - Can you live with that?
If not I would go for an MR2 later ones are probably a better drive and much more masculine. I just hope you dont ever travel with luggage.

Have to say,I don't care if people think they are girly.The point is 'fun'.
My Skoda Octavia vRS is brilliant,allegedly does nigh on 150 mph,must be classed as a 'mans' car but I'm b. o. r. e .d .
Roofless motoring in a little sports car is more fun than zooming around in a four door saloon car not 'feeling'speed and having to check the speedo to confirm you are going quickly

I've had mine for loner than I can remember and don't ever intend to sell it. I bought my scoob as a second car as I didn't want to use the 5 as a daily driver and wreck it. Apparently thats the wrong way around

I am only relaying a common perception and the fact all mark 2 MX5s i see are driven by females. Please dont shoot the messenger.
Personally I much prefer the looks of the Mark 1 MX5.

As for luggage space, there’s plenty for a weekend away. I would have thought the MR2 has even less.

probably opening a whole can of worms here, but what the hell!!!
On the earlier MK1's the output on the 1.6 compared to the 1.8's wasn't that much (115bhp vs 130bhp I think) - but the later UK Spec 1.6's were de-tuned or just had a lower 90bhp output, which is a bit low.
The Mk2 / 2.5's are heavier, and have 1.6 pushing about 110bhp, and 1.8 at about 140 bhp (2.5 have 146 I think...)
I'm no expert - go to MX5OC forum, loads of people with the right info there.
With the MX it's not all about the power (which you can have via a supercharger or Turbo for about 2K+) it's more about the handling, drivability and general "fun factor". Test drive a few, see what you think, and buy the one which gives you the most smiles!!!
