Maybe a lesson to be learnt there then!
Keep them supple. That counts my Impreza and esp the 911 out.

Prepping and painting the cage and shell is well underway and Pete has been doing a great job and I fear he might quit our business and start up a body shop at this rate. He is being well paid in Fosters and Pizza though.

It's looking good and is well on target, I have managed to get yet more weight out as well hopefuly this time next week the car should look dramaticaly different and be ready for the Zen treatment.

I thought the boot floor was coming out?
Looks a long way round those tubes Rob. Sprayed or brushed?

You must have seen this:

I recently made a decision on what i have time and funds to do to the car for this season and the boot floor didn't fit in. I have a million other weight save ideas but they will have to wait for next winter.

Longer than you can imagine, 6 large cans of primer in on the cage alone and not finished, then there is the painting before we even get to the rest of the car.

Sprayed, brush finish looks rubbish (did a small test area), I'm not going for a concours finish but I don't want it to look ****e.

Yeah looks good, far too much weight in there though!

Are you out in the Porsche next weekend or can I tempt you up to TA at Donny?

Not doing any B's this year in Porsche or Impreza.

If I can persuade Trish, will come to donny on sunday to stir Pete on with you.
I think he will be ballistic once 'virgin' nerves are over. He will enjoy it too much!
Seen enough of the Loton track recently, so a nice local venue will be welcome. Can you get into the pits at Donny for TA or is there a special pass?

Plan is to do Epynt in the Impreza using Geoff Twemlow's old Kumho's as the slicks are fcuked, but that assumes I will still have it by then.

It's for Sale again!
Hopefully see you all at Donny. (I've got 3 windows to paint inside though...)

Put in some hours this weekend and a ridiculous amount of paint but the cage is finaly finished. Pete's done a cracking job and it looks like a proper bodyshop finish due to his patience with proper surface prep' and coat after coat of primer and gloss paying off.

The floor needs a good going over yet as its been trashed during the cage fitting we managed to get it primered up but ran out of gloss so I will have to finish it tomorrow night. Then it's full steam ahead refitting everything starting with getting the loom back in which I'm dreading.

I also fitted these, carbon wing mirrors which I got second hand for an absolute steal on ebay.

I also got some stuff on the scales and the results are really interesting.

The drivers door which has not yet been gutted without door card and mirror weighed in at a whopping 21kgs, the gutted passenger door was 15kgs still really heavy but 6kgs a door is a big saving.

My big box of removed crap is upto a massive 30kgs, bear in mind that does not include..... carpet, door cards, all sound proofing, roof lining, plastic linings, fuel tank, removed metal, heater matrix, dash bar, boot lid and loads of other stuff I can't remember. I think I'm over the 100kgs mark with stuff I have removed to this point from what was a fairly minimal car anyway. The weld in cage has obvioulsy put some weight back in but not as much as you would think, the 6 point with plates bolts and everything was pretty heavy so not a massive difference.

I'm looking forward to getting it on the weighbridge!

Lets hope so.

It's going to be a busy week.

I don't think it will be that light the glass and doors are really heavy, sub 1100kgs is my target, the thing I have in my favour compared to other light 4 doors on snet is mine is now a true mod prod and I have removed a lot of stuff other people have had to retain for their MOT's.

Fibre glass doors, lexan replacement glass, custom loom would see me down that low but thats big money, I have got mine to where it is with little or no money spent on the weight save side of things at all.

I have my corner weight scales in the barn if you want to weigh it.

I sold a kidney and bought some EXE TC's so the scales are out Saturday for set up of my blue car.

Respect to you guys for putting the hours in...thats how it was for me mid season when the ramp dropped my RA.

I will take you up on that John but I will have to wait until it's finished engine in etc. or it may be a bit misleading.

Kudos on the exe tc's awesome piece of kit!

more weight saving info.....

I was up at Zen earlier and put my box of removed metal on the scales and it weighed in at an impressive 11.1kgs so worth the effort.

It's been a busy day & night, picked up my trashed wheel after being refurbished then got 2 slicks from BMTR to replace the ****ed rears.

Then set about refitting the dreaded loom and rebuilding the car after paint..

We are doing the firewall tomorrow and some other bits, watching time attack and drinking beer at the weekend, glass monday then it's Zen bound.

C3 looks better!

Darrian, EVO, Sti RA and a few more to come?

Will be great. Wonder if I can crack 3rd in class!? Depends on that EVO and if he is on 1B/Slicks?
I had better spend a bit of time on the Sti (ie MoT etc)

I think you could be on the Darrian's case Rob with 4x4, esp if wet. (and FTD is right there too!)

One of the very best events of 2008.

More progress.

With more than a little help the fire wall is now fitted and looks great, I just need to seal the edges with intumescent mastic and it's done.

and more weight out, parcel shelf gone.

Due to problems with Pete's car at TA Saturday he couldn't run today so we put some hours in on my car and got it all finished except the glass which is going in tomorrow.

My rear bumper which I had repaired and resprayed turns out to be a different shade of white which is a bugger, it's noticeable but not the end of the world at this point, I have another bumper which I can get sprayed up and fit later in the season

I can see the finish line now and the car is looking really good.

New front screen has been fitted and the old rear and trims, the guy was a big race car fan and knocked loads off the price which was a result.

Car is finished from my end of things now and crossing the last thing off the list on the wall in the garage was a good feeling indeed.

It's all trailered up and ready to go for the next phase.

I got my entry through for my first event, an MAC B event at Curborough on the 20th of this month to try and get up to speed before the first round of the midland champ's at Prescott on the 26&27th. I really can't wait to get going again.

John Murphy A3 Subaru Impreza AWMMC

Looks like I will be wrong side of Atlantic on the day!

I have to pull out for work commitments from Epyant

Had a class win at Curborough and second fastest time of the day last sunday in the snow.

Was pulling 2.12 off the line in a full road trim bugeye...I think that's rather impressive for a heavy car on T1R's with nothing more than an exhaust, air filter and a re map!

EXE TC's why didnt I get these years ago!!!!!!
