FAO TINY:
Just found out that they have THESE at the park..........
pink pigeon - columba mayeri
Distribution: Endemic to the island of Mauritius
Habitat: Forest Areas
Diet: Flowers, fruits, buds, leaves and seeds of native and exotic vegetation.

Pink Pigeon Fact File
As a result of deforestation, persecution from people and predation by introduced non-native species such as Black Rats, Macaques and feral cats, the Pink Pigeon has come very close to the point of extinction. By the 1950s there were thought to be only 40 to 60 Pink Pigeons left. In 1976 the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust initiated a captive breeding programme in Mauritius, the United States and Europe. In 1993, the wild population was estimated at only 21 birds. The captive pink pigeon population was about 180 birds. Their pink colour allows them to blend in perfectly with the dead and fallen leaves on the ground
Oh - and THESE............
Crested Pigeon - Ocyphaps lophotes
Green Imperial Pigeon - Ducula aenea aenea
Luzon Bleeding Heart Pigeon - Gallicolumba luzonica
Pheasant Pigeon - Otidiphaps nobilis nobilis
Ringed Turtle Dove - Streptopelia risoria
Scheepmakers Crowned Pigeon - Goura scheepmakeri
Wonga Pigeon - Leucosarcia melanoleuca

OK Folks, this is now CONFIRMED as an ESC FAMILY DAY OUT!!

They are open from 10.00am, so ideally we should aim to be at the park around that time. It’s about 1½hrs travelling time from Harlow, so for everyone else, probably about 2-2¼hrs travelling, so no “crack of dawn” leaving time!
SUNDAY 10TH JUNE

We all loved our trip to Monkeyworld last year, so here is another fantastic “Wildlife Park” for ALLTHE FAMILY.

We have been going here for many, many years and so far we’ve never ever had a bad day here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I’ve recommended this place to a lot of friends over the years and I can honestly say that once you have visited this place – you WILL go back!! - With 160 acres to get around - you will be well entertained..... !!
Rhinos. Zebras, Camels, Ostriches, Lions, Leopards, Red Pandas, Giant Tortoises, Penguins, Tropical Birds, MONKEYS (Just for you Brian
), Meerkats, Otters, Goats, Ponies, Tapirs, Wallabies, Storks, Capybaras, Flamingoes, Cranes, Antelopes, Mongooses, Bats, Owls, Emus, Llamas, Onyx - the list just goes on and on.......

I have managed to get secure special parking arrangements (by the Camel Enclosure), which will be well away from the general public. They are not a stranger to Car Club’s visiting - just 3 weeks after us, they have the “Club Triumph” visiting – last year they had the Mazda RX5 Club go along.
Admission prices:
We have been given special “arrangements” (assuming we have 20 or more in the group) – The driver of each car will be allowed FREE admission, and passengers would pay the normal rate – i.e. Adult - £9.50, Children ages 3-16 - £7.00 and Senior Citizens over 65 also £7.00.

There is so much to see here, those who are visiting for the first time - I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t actually see the whole of the park in the time we will be there! I remember it took us two or three visits before we managed to see everything.....

Serious question : Are the birds wandering free all around the park ( i dont mean wildlife) ??????
You see i have a little phobia , i normaly love them from a distance unless caged .
Will brown trousers and incontenence pants be needed ?

Nope they can't run up to you & peck you, they are all in either cages or small open areas, or in the case of the larger birds (i.e. the Emu's etc) then they are in large open enclosures.
Normally, unless they are friendly birds and love human contact there is some sort of "gap" to stop them getting too near the humans! (and vice versa).
Members of the public can keep well back if they want - you should be OK and not have any problems.
Remember, this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY Park, so they want children, and adults with fears etc, to see the animals and not be frightened by them.....
You will be OK.

WOO HOO !!!
1 MONTH TO GO
1 MONTH TO GO
So looking forward to this – lot’s of background work has been done so everyone enjoys the day………
Every driver now has their own “Free Entry Pass”
All laminated with the ESC “Carlsberg” Logo, so they will instantly know who they are letting into the Park!
Every driver has an “Information Pack” giving details of the route, extra helpful information on the dreaded “Oxford Ring Road” and where the nearest Shell garage is, along with a colour brochure from the Park – so no-one can say they haven’t got all the information they need to have a cracking “Family Day Out”.
I have prepared 40 “Information Packs” just in case we manage to get others joining us (I know Wimpy has got a few joining us) so hopefully 40 will be enough, but just in case I have another 5 “Free Entry Passes” to hand.
Can’t see us having that many cars, but hey – you can only hope!!
Some NEW arrivals since I started this thread:
“Pygmy-Marmoset” – Who’s just heard we are coming!!

“Leopard” – Probably thinking “I hope they come and see me…..”

“Tambopata - A Linne’s Two-toed Sloth”

“Jaguarondi” - A long bodied small cat originating from Central and South America.

“British Giant Rabbits” - Although still quite small (the size of your average bunny) they will quickly grow into giants reaching up to 8kg in weight and 1 metre in height!

MEETING ARRANGEMENTS:
We should be having two "Comfort Stops" - one main one and a second "brief" one.
SOUTH MIMMS M25 SERVICES - this is the first place on the route to have a “comfort stop” – It’s also where I will hand out the driver passes/information packs etc to everyone there – we will also be briefly stopping at OXFORD M40 SERVICES to meet up with Wimpy and his group, so I can hand out his passes whilst we have the “comfort stop” to anyone/kids who need it! I don't visualise us staying here long........
As we have Dave, Tissy and myself coming from Harlow, thinking about it, it would make sense for us to go directly to SOUTH MIMMS and wait for everyone else to arrive (Assuming that's OK with them)?
For everyone else coming from the rest of Essex etc, then meeting at the usual Lakeside Services would seem to a "sensible" idea.......
As we've got all day and we don't really "have to be there" at the 10am opening time (we have got all day after all), how does 7.30am meeting at Lakeside for a 8.00am departure sound for the majority? I would think about 20-25mins from Lakeside to get to South Mimms, so I would think that Dave, Tissy & myself leaving Harlow at 8.00am-8.10am will mean we all meet up at roughly the same time at the South Mimms area.
Anyone not happy with those times?

I'm going to have to say no to this at the moment. I'm really sorry but my sister is returning from Australia for a brief time. I wont see her until I come back from Italy which leaves me very little time to let you know for certain.
Rather than muck you around I thought it best to let you know now. I am really sorry.

I'm going to have to say no to this at the moment. I'm really sorry but my sister is returning from Australia for a brief time. I wont see her until I come back from Italy which leaves me very little time to let you know for certain.
Rather than muck you around I thought it best to let you know now. I am really sorry.

Looks like it's down to just 25 cars then...............
