Yeah, soz mate, that was what you were getting at 1st wasn't it!!

The Subaru garage reckoned it would need filling as the metal had been stretched!!!

Now you have mentioned about a new door though, It's not a bad idea as I'm not paying anyway!!!!!!

When you get your quotes, ask "how much will it be for a new door (or skin)", not "how much will it be to repair"

I will do now Cheers I can see your point exactly mate, I am in the same boat.

Are you going through your insurance and then they claim it back off his company???

I am going to wait till the end of the week then call the back, it's getting past the joke!!

smile on my face for the first time today!! just been to the insurance companies repair centre for them to do an estimation and there ordering me a new door!! im a happy lad now, id defo get onto the head office mate they wont be impressed if one of there stores is pi**ing a "valued customer" off who shops there week in week out but now may have to take there business elsewhere coz there loss then will be more than the cost of fixing your car

I'm happy for ya!!!

I will get the number tommorow and give them a call, I am gonna go quote hunting tommorow aswell then and get them to price up a new door.

Is it a whole new door you are getting, including the window and handle and that? Or do they buy it in bits?

Any news on when you are gonna get it done though mate?

to be honest im not to sure i presume the door will come with nothin on it and they will take everythin off the original door and put that on the new one once it is sprayed, its being done at an approved garaged which is one of smith knight fay's repair centres so should be a good job

I thought that might happen, i.e; swapping the old parts over.

Have you got an excess mate? Cos when I was going to claim this through my insurance I had to pay the excess and they would then claim the whole thing back and re-imburse me!!!

yea i found out about that minor thing of me having to pay my £300 excess for a crash that i never caused and the person has owned up to, biggest waste of time ive ever heard of whats the point in me paying an excess which i will get back once the jobs done? what if i couldnt afford it? then my car wouldnt get fixed after someone else had hit it, its just stupid

My thoughts exactly!!!!!!

Only, I found with mine that if the costs didn't add up to more than my excess (£350), my insurance company wouldn't chase up the claim as they would have nothing to pay!!!!
Because of this I decided to wait and let them contact me.

Could you have waited for his insurance company to contact you to arrange something?

no because i wouldnt be suprissed if the guy hadnt told his insurance company and would sit back and wait for my insurance comapany to contact his which is probably what most would do in his situation as it was and old van and it was his plastic bumber with not damage to it that dented my car and theres no way i could have gone home and sat there waiting for the phone to ring lol

I spoke to the Tesco customer services lie today and they had no record of the whole situation, so the bloke called the store and they are re-sending the info, f***ing Wasters!!!

I asked if he thought that there would be a problem with them accepting liability for the incident and he said nope, which cheered me up no end!!!

The only thing is now, that I have to wait up to 2 weeks to here from them in the form of a letter! Need to start getting quotes for a new door now though, get as much out of those b****rds as I can!!!!!!!!

Any news on yours yet, rpw?

FINALLY!!!!! I spoke to Tesco Customer service today and they have said they will accept liabillity!!

I then went down the road to Des Eastwoods (Subaru garage) and he is preping a quote for me to have a new door!!!!

Only thing is though that they are busy and I might not be able to get it done for another month, not too fussed though cos I know it will be done properly!!!!!!

How is yours getting on rpw?

Oh mate,

When I first chased up my claim, I was gonna go through my insurance and then they claim it back from Tesco; later found out though, they would only chase Tesco up for the money they were owed and I would then have to persue the claim for my excess MYSELF, I don't think so

Needless to say, I chased Tesco and told them I am not paying a penny, took a while, but worth it
