OH MY ****ING GOD WHAT RETARDED ***** HAVE ACTUALLY AUTHORISED A RELEASE ON THIS CAR?
What absolute ****s.
Sorry for the abuse but it actually makes me angry inside to see that car. Sigh.
Fair enough on this car, but they could release it under a different name, and carry on the impreza saloon design, then you have the best of both worlds.
Hawkeye is the best impreza made to date, and judging by the MY08, it will stay as the best impreza made.

Looks okay, but like other marks its obvious the company has moved away into a different market now, no doubt to increase the marketing value of their brand which has been a little specialised up till now.
But I think its down to taste, personally I don't like the 'hawk eye' model, I think it looks too much like a Saab from the front. But I see this as a bonus, will at least mean the collectable value of the 2005/2006-7 version will become better aka making them all the more desireable and making the classics even more of a classic.
Each to their own I guess, I will wait until its here in the flesh.

Was planning on starting to save up for a new one in a few years time , but dont think i'll bother at the moment ! Rear end looks like any other focus with a big spoiler bolted on . Designers should have taken a leaf out of mitsi's book and stuck to a mean looking saloon !
I bet the s/h value's of RB 320's will end up being the same as new or more now !

That is bloody terrible, so it's time to buy a 2007 STi, that will do me for the next few years.
Or until someone at Subaru realises sales are poor and the car is restyled.
Sounds familar?
You'd have thought they learned their lesson with the bug-eye.
That front bumper won't work with a Front Mount.
And it's a 5 door, there will NOT be a 3 door model.
The WRC Car is also a 5 door.

Consider 40mpg and instant throttle response and 200+bhp...

Looks like they've put frames on the windows, or is this just the Mazda 3 photoshop hangover. I do like the way the scoop is integrated in the bonnet but not much else.

The rear view is laughable: look at the reflection lines on the door/back wing. They don't match up. Nor do the rear lights.
The Auto Express article makes a big play on the "fact" that the car will "only be available as a 5-door hatchback in the UK".
Does that mean others, (JDM), are getting a choice we're not, AGAIN?

the rear view reminds me of a proton or some other cheap mark with a big spoiler and twin pipes stuck on
front end nice
keep impreza as 4 door saloon and a wagon as it's always been
calling it jap's eye gets my vote

Err it's not a salloon? Err, are they doing a salloon aswell? If they are not, I will never own another... I shall go elsewhere. If I was a shopping trolley hot hatch puff lord, I would already own such a chutney ferret type machine. I want it to be a salloon
Seriously, it looks ok, but if it becomes a hatchback, I aint buying another, it's like ferrari making an estate, or Lamborghini making farming vehicles or Porsche making a 4x4....Hang on a min

Jebus christ. How can ANY of you still think this is anything other than a photoshop? Each month they have a go at making a civic/fabia/mazda/honad/etc hatch into an impreza with a different front end and a silly rear spoiler. It's SOOOO obvious.
Wait until subaru release some OFFICIAL pics (which I bet won't be anything like photoshop weeklys/AE efforts).

I absolutely hate the direction they have taken. If there is one market that is fit to burting its the performance hatchback. You got alfa, fiesta, focus, astra, cupra, clio, cooper etc etc etc.
If I wanted a bloody hatchback I am not exactly struggling for choice. The (good) performance saloon alternatives are far less in number.
But hey, obviously thats where the money is because everyone is making hot hatches. And thats what this is - a money decision.

I'd bet that both Subaru UK & Prodrive staff are reading this.
Probably the thoughts of "hear we go again" running though some heads, together with "And they haven't even seen it yet".
I presume that some of the posters here are car designers and have done extensive market research on the new shape Impreza?
