"The bad news, however, is that Subaru is not expected to launch a diesel variant until 2009."

Thats a relief for all us Petrol Heads !!!!

can you tell I dont like it? :freak3:

New_scooby_04 07 February 2007 04:23 PM

Well, it IS Autocar, so expect the fininshed version to look nothing like it!! :)

I do hope it doesn't look like that; the front is fine, but the rear looks just daft!!!

B0DSKI 07 February 2007 04:26 PM

I like it, sure it's a bit of a departure from what were used to but i for one would be a proud lad to own one

GOLDMAN 555 07 February 2007 04:26 PM

That is definately the finished version. I have the magazine here. This car is making its first debut in New York in April.

scoobyverysoon 07 February 2007 04:34 PM

I quite like it - the rear lights are a bit iffy but its nice :thumb:

mervil 07 February 2007 04:37 PM

The rear looks like a cross between the old Civic (top half) and Skoda Fabia with a taller version of the OE STi rear wing bolted on :freak3:

dreamer_girl 07 February 2007 04:38 PM

"STi is a rework of the current 2.0L Turbo" ???

And it says that car is wider than the current one - even more car park dings then !!!

mervil 07 February 2007 04:42 PM

I think the guys at AutoExpress have their kids trained up on Photoshop :Whatever_

Nürburg_Ringa 07 February 2007 04:45 PM

nice :thumb:

Just looks like yet another dodgy photoshop to me? The line where the bonnet meets the grille is completely wrong :wonder: :freak3:

I think I'll believe all these 'what will the new Impreza look like' threads when they actually are genuine photos of the real car!

fitzscoob 07 February 2007 04:47 PM

3 door would look better :)

Agree mate, like a minefield with all these threads and pictures.

YUK.YUK.YUK.
I thought the My06 was ugly at first but it has grown on me, but this new one is really yuk and i know this one will not grow on me.

I will stick with my JDM Blobeye

Russ71 07 February 2007 04:55 PM

Its a cross between the Astra and that small BMW, Yuk it will look like every other car on the road.:(

Prasius 07 February 2007 04:58 PM

I don't mind it - if only because it will stop people looking at my Bug like its the ugly fatherless child of Subaru. You'll all have a new hate target now ;)

From my perspective it looks like a funny looking blue new civic.

In all seriousness though - it does look like a dodgy photoshop - look how that spoiler 'fits' on the rear-nearside - its on the car wonky!!

No, it will be uglier than every other car on the road :lol1:

Take away the spoiler and the back end is pure 1 series, front end is vectra, glass house has a touch of A3 about it.

Scott.T 07 February 2007 05:19 PM

More photoshopped Mazda 3's IMHO.

collierm 07 February 2007 05:21 PM

I'm sticking with my blobeye, that is horrible. Astra/Mazda front and a shopping trolley rear. No thanks.

Holyterror72 07 February 2007 05:26 PM

Strange, someone only just mentioned a cross between an STI and a Yaris would be interesting!

They released a hatchback impreza official pic not long before they revised the bug eye and that never happened.

maybe they are naltering the body to make the imp match up to that new powerful corsa!!!

D00 07 February 2007 05:34 PM

Looks like a pile of ****e to me, design wise! Reminds me of Astra VXR tbh.

AndyC_772 07 February 2007 05:36 PM

Those pictures are typical Auto Express cartoons - artists' impressions at best. That rear spoiler is particularly laughable, though I do prefer the front end. One day Subaru will manage a look that isn't rubbish and which lasts more than one generation of car!

bluenosewrx 07 February 2007 05:41 PM

So what we calling this one then??????, longeye???, skinnyeye??? or catseye etc, should have a competition to name it,

I like it actually.

Flaps 07 February 2007 06:02 PM

Not a fan. I do like the Evo though.

Martin WRX22 07 February 2007 06:11 PM

It looks like a Corolla.

Maybe something to do with the fact Toyota owning Subaru and them wanting to broaden the core appeal.

Not for me thanks, I`m going down the Evo X road when thats available.

If thats then new face of Subaru they`ve lost me as a punter.

Martin-STI 07 February 2007 06:15 PM

I agree with the Mazda 3 photoshop.

Have been told previous that the scoop was going due to pedestrian safety????

GOLDMAN 555 07 February 2007 06:27 PM
