"A P1 isn't a Type R with bits removed, it best described as a V6 4 door built into a2 door bodyshell with Type R suspension. Bit more complex than that as some parts were fitted in Japan and more were fitted in the UK but it's more correct than saying it's a low spec Type R."
That will get em Fired up.

But it's true I've had shed loads of goes in P1's on road and Track and owned a Type R vltd, agreed was harsher on bumpy roads in comparison. As for speed and top end my type R V ltd with std longer 5th and 8krpm was better than a P1 at both on a Autobann. athough nearly hit a 22B up the rear as he "Peaked" to early
Saying that, for a comfortable well handling car Prodrive does it better than most Handling versa Comfort is normally Comrpomise/trade off and you have to take your Hats of to the boys at Warwick they know their stuff.
The handling of the RB320 is very good I was suprised anything that comfortable could still handle so well very much in the P1 Class IMHO

Personelly the only UK car I'd have bought in the last 3 years, sorry WR1 owners but Prodrive to float my boat with that one
Look out early next year for the new Model it WILL be far superior to the P1 IMHO

so why do they have a rep for going bang around 45k ??? they are lovely looking cars but the poppind motor is an issue ive heard a lot of !

At present i own a Spec C T20 courtesy of Mr Litchfield & Powestation, the car cannot be beaten for value for for money and ticks all the boxes on road and track. It is cheap to service and maintain and nothing has failed in the 25k i have done. I can't recommend the Spec C enough and whilst the P1 was a beautiful looking car with fantastic detailing it's engine blew up at 32K and was replaced under warranty.
Reference the argument about the Spec C not being a ' proper ' subaru i would suggest that due to IM registrictions the british public are not being allowed access to the best equipment, that the boys and girls at Subaru can produce.

Just bought a P1, and its by far the best scoob i've owned (i had a bugeye and a blobeye).
Both were tuned but nowhere near as spot-on as the P1 - it's a great standard car It'll take some beating!!!

Treat the engines well, use decent petrol and oil, replace the MAF once a year and your certainly off to a good start.

is that why there were six went bang at Lucas of Mansfield & over 10 at Beechdale in Derby, surely not all these drivers were misusing there vehicles. I'd owned 2 subarus before the P1, never a problem. I was sold the dream that the P1 was the ultimate subaru, but after the engine let go it dented my confidence.
I for one always get all of my cars serviced in advance of the schedule, use optimax as was or V power.
The bottom end actually let go at 50mph going down the M1 so speed was not a contributor factor.
Like i say, speaking with Ian Litchfield he has had only one failure of all the Spec C's he has sold whilst he has been trading and the part cost less than 50 quid.
I rest me case

I thought someone one here was saying that the P1 could do with a remap as its fuelling was not quite right for UK petrol. I could be wrong, but I am sure there was a discussion about the fact the P1 map was based too closely on the Sti V 5 or something.

The type r definately was IMHO the best one produced. 22B's are just too beautiful to even try to compare it with a P1......

Nobody is saying cheap is always best value. What I am saying is what I've spent on my car now is 4 times less than my last Impreza, and it's just as good, if not better, than the last one.

Wow, 22b! Very nice only ever seen one on the road & it looked awesome so fair play to you. See what you mean now though re VFM as the 22b's do cost a bit vs a normal Impreza.

Yeah, basically the differences between a 22b and a typeR are so small for the average driver that you're really paying an extra 15k just for posing, not great VFM when you can get a nice typeR for 8kish.

There is no way I would compare the P1 engine to a Spec C engine

I had a P1 from Beechdale in Derby, brand new. covered 96,000miles in just over 4 years.... never missed a beat ever! and I didn't drive like miss daisy ever as the guys at the dealership know. Even trips to WRC in Spain covering 1,100miles in one & a half days never bothered her.
Mega car in my book - will never see the likes of it again.
I'm would conside buying another P1 over a new age STi Impreza to
just my tuppence..
