Welcome to the All New ScoobyNet! - Please read here first
Yes, I've read it all, and a neutral observation about the width:
The first page of this thread is narrow.
The second page is full-width (1400)
The third page is narrow again.
It looks as if it is only fixed width unless something in there makes it wider than the 'fixed' width. In this case the screenshots in page 2 seem to do the trick.
Same in the Photography section, where the pictures are 800 wide the body of the thread becomes 800 wide. Using Firefox with a modified UserContent.css.

Can I just point out an annoying twist with the new set-up (it may have been mentioned - but haven't read every post here).
When you edit a post it used to take you back to the thread to show the edit - it doesn't now. So, you need to back-track and refresh.

I think it looks awesome, well done chaps
No bugs or issues here as I run a good system and a decent browser
Users with very big screens can have a variable width site, but it will look crap.

Fixed width is bloody crap. I have just bought a widescreen monitor and viewing my favourite forum was even better. Now there is this bloody narrow view with it's huge bloody space on either side. Bloody wonderful, only scoobynet could take a step backwards in time and reintroduce us to 4:3 formats. What next a code that makes scobbynet unviewable on a lcd monitor?
So what makes it so hard to change the viewing width? I am afraid i don't understand that at all? If that were the case then surely every website would be narrow to save on the work, yet every forum and website i use can be made full width.
Please explain your self immediately or i shall whip you with a 3" exhaust.
And a hot one at that!

I'm going to go out on a lim here -
Regarding the width thing. As webby said, its new and it a 'shock to the system'. A forum that we have gotten used to had had a make over and its a bit different and we have to get used to it for the time being. Like anything new it takes time, you never know, you may grow to like it. ( I think that came out right) Also you guys who have your flashy 24" and above screens should be able to code with a bit of 'extra' space at either side of the forum page. As quite a lot of forums are adopting this page layout, which is modern, stylish and above all practial.

every website i design is to a set width (and usually centred) and i have no complaints from my clients, if you don't like the dead space around the sides, all you have to do is drag your browser window a bit smaller
and if you have Vista OS, then you can see your widgets at the same time

If it was made to utilise your WS screen, then people on lowly 800x600 monitors would have to scroll right whenever they wanted to read the text.
Even today, most sites still have to be fixed width, and still have to cater for 800x600 users - we get penalised by the DDA lot if we dont

The only way to have variable width is to use expanding Divs or tables, but then any decent design is thrown out the window and difficult to cater for.

Nice one lads, well done and keep up the good work
