That looks more like it but you are still going to have to cut a hole somewhere.

You could just remove the resonator box and reconnect the standard cold air feed using the following.

ScoobyTuner.com - Engine, Suspension, Brakes, ECU Tuning and more for your STi, WRX, Legacy, & Forrester

Thanks - useful link.

There is clearly two sides of the fence when it comes to the induction kit vs. panel filter box debate.

Me - i'm putting my faith in Bob R and fitting a RCM 80mm induction kit after his recommendation (along with the obvious cold air feed this post was started about!). Once in i will look to make a heat shield to support.

I know there have been numerous posts stating its not worth it but Andy F, Bob R, RCM motorsport to name a few all seem to think its a worth while addition given the state of tune of the car.

I've also spoken to a lot of the guys who have already followed this route - none of them have had any regrets..worst case scenario i can just put the standard box and associated kit back on if results aren't satisfactory

Fingers crossed

Here it is. £25 from Halfords. I doubt the ducting would reach from the fog cover to the engine bay though. That's why i said it's better suited to the CAK like APS/K&N.

Pipercross accessories. Filter cleaning kits, dirt retention oil, crankcase breather and cold airfeed

You get a hole saw, can't remember the measurements, think it was 3cm. Drills the fog cover easily. Blob of glue on the back of the trumpet and it sits nicely.

The right people have told you to do that for a reason. I followed example and got the right results. Can't go wrong with the RCMS one either.

Let us know the results.

PS. i wouldn't fit an ind kit without a cold air feed. But went for CAK to reduce induction noise. (If that made any difference).

Doesn't make very much noise to be honest. And when it does, the exhaust overtakes it. You only really notice when giving some gas and low revs, before boost.

Errr, i thought it was on this thread. I'm losing it. Can't find it anywhere now.

A guy posted a pic/link to the cold air feed he'd done. With the bumper off and everything, showing the insulating piping.

He said it was about £8 IIRC for the piping.

I've been reading a few threads on this though recently...

Gaz! Step away from the ash tray.

puff away

Only thing with the B&Q tubing is it looks Aluminium - a good heat conductor! Having said that there probably nothing in it so i'll have a look at it tomorrow
