Can anyone get the tech details for the Green ones? If they're roughly similar (not too worried about peak recall) - I'll have a set of those.

Just ordered mines and then remembered they are coming from overseas so we'll no doubt get stung for VAT and god knows what other duty. Can you get your mate to mark mines up as 'GIFT' please

I've just remembered (with being new to Impreza's) that we have unequal length manifolds, so putting the EGT probe where all 4 runners meet may prove inacurate, with some gases having travelled X amount of distance further giving the opportunity to cool a little before meeting up with the other two runners

I wouldn't like to say wether it'd be down to detination or running lean, as im not overly technically minded, i just know the basics I just picked up that AFR gauges arn't worth the money in the slightest due to them being so inacurate.

LOL exactly what I was thinking! I might have to take them apart and fiddle around with that opening and closing ceremony thing.

Anyway, I am making enquiries of a fella who can do Subaru specific adapters for fitting these gauges. If I understand correctly what we're getting, all we need are two adapters to fit to the pressure switch location and the plug over #3 cylinder. The boost sender can be teed into any vacuum line coming off the manifold I would have thought. The adapters I've found are exactly what we'll need for this job - eBay.co.uk: GAUGEPLACE SUBARU OIL PRESS.GAUGE SENDER ADAPTOR (item 280052463791 end time 20-Feb-07 20:06:02 GMT) and eBay.co.uk: GAUGEPLACE SUBARU OIL TEMP.GAUGE SENDER ADAPTOR (item 280057622586 end time 06-Mar-07 07:14:17 GMT)

Sorry for the ebay link, mods, but it's the easiest way I can link to the descriptions of the gauge adapters. We'll be buying directly, not through ebay. I'm waiting to hear back from him about what price he can do for how many buyers. If it gets off the ground I'll start a new GB for it.

I also would like a 3-gauge pod or a 3-gauge DIN panel. I'm not prepared however to pay £80 or anywhere near it, for a bit of formed fibreglass to go on top of my dash. That's a rip off. So if anyone knows where we can get dash top pods for say £40, that would be great. If it comes in black 'leather' texture like the standard dash, even better.

OK got it sorted! Our man is doing us the pair of adaptors needed for £27.50 including postage to your door, you can ring him up and pay over the phone or ask him to send you a Paypal invoice. There is no minimum number of buyers, and this looks to be a significant saving over what they'd be if you had them off him through ebay. This was part of his email to me just now:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>

"Orders are made by the members directly to me, either by phone or email and payment can be made either by paypal invoice sent to the member or by credit card over the phone. Each member will receive his order directly delivered to his own address. In addition all gauges/items are 100% covered by a moneyback guarantee. and an advice/installation contact number is available to all.

Discounts are equal to a minimum of 10-15% off normal costings..in some cases more.

OIL PRESSURE REMOTE ADAPTOR /OIL TEMP 3RD CYLINDER ADAPTOR PKGE - BEST PRICE £ 27.50
includes POST/PACK
ALTERNATIVE VERSION - As above but with SUMP PLUG OIL TEMP ADAPTOR

This price is a low as possible..and is not dependant on quantity..each set will be individually posted directly to members. orders to be made via phone on 07814 865210 or email nick@gaugeplace.com"

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<

Can't say fairer than that! I will post pictures up as soon as I have them and get them hosted. I also need to just check what the thread of the senders are to make sure that these adaptors are tapped with the right thread. So if you're after a set of adaptors, you know what to do. Get in touch with Nick on the email or number above.

LATEST NEWS:

The adaptors can be made with any thread, but the usual is 1/8NPT. AFAIK the gauges on this group buy are 1/8NPT but I'm not sure about that so waiting to hear. But if you are buying these adaptors straight away to go with your gauges, PLEASE check what thread you need! Anyway here's the next message from Nick:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>

Just to confirm regarding the OIL TEMP ADAPTOR pictured. This is designed to fit into the already situated bung hole above the 3rd cylinder on all Scoobies. This is considered to be the hottest part of the engine. it can be slightly awkward to reach, and normally involves detaching part of the intercooler to reach.
The alternative is a SUMP PLUG ADAPTOR which is also available at the same cost..for those not quite so adventurous.

regards
NICK

Also have SUBARU DOUBLE and SINGLE perfect fit PILLAR PODS ALL MODELS

cost SINGLE £22.00
DOUBLE £27.00
POST/PACK £3
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>

I have attached pictures below for you. Hope this all helps.

Adaptors look just the job.

Gauge fitting - I'm going for DIN plate just above the stereo. Might mean partly cutting away the cupholder above, but will be neat fitment. Left and middle gauges easily visible, although it takes a look downwards, whilst you have to move your elbow slightly to see the RH one of the three. Not as obvious as a top-pod, but less distracting for night-driving, especially if they're on the bright side. Ebay bloke Nick does such a panel:

eBay.co.uk: GAUGEPLACE TRIPLE GAUGE DIN PANEL (item 280055363216 end time 29-Jan-07 14:14:20 GMT)

Same bloke! He's doing those triple panels for £8 for us if anyone wants them. Did a little search on these Prosport gauges and it looks like the thread is definitely 1/8NPT.

silent_running, nice one for finding all that out, and sorting out a possible group buy

Do you think it'd be worth seeing what senders etc come with the kit?

If we do need these extra bits i think i'd prefer them both to go in the 3rd cylinder, removing the IC shouldn't be a big job

Well from another website that I found with the Prosport gauges on it, they definitely are 1/8NPT senders. The Xyberautos site that we're all ordering through lists them as 1/8 or 1/4NPT anyway. Most senders and gauges use 1/8NPT as standard, and Nick is happy to thread them for 1/8NPT. It's not that bad getting at the two locations needed - the #3 cylinder plug and the pressure switch behind the alternator, but for the less mechanically minded it could be a hassle. It's definitely a bad move having them hooked up to a sandwich plate on the oil filter.

The only other thing we all need is a suitable mount for the gauges, either a triple dash top pod for facelift dashes or a DIN plate.

Hi Jake,

If you could possibly get some pictures or links of the centre top pods for both classic & newage that would be great. I interested in the classic wavey centre pod (60mm).

Hi,

Different question - does anyone have first-hand experience of the Prosport oil pressure gauge? I'm wanting to know if it responds pretty much instantaneously with engine revs ie when you blip throttle from idle. Reason is for detection of oil surge, which can be brief (but disasterous) on a racetrack corner. Old-style capillary gauges respond instantly, as do the expensive electrical ones, anyone know about the Prosports?

cheers
Andy
