Listen, I'm laughing at some of the posts on the Astra Site, not at you.
Does something tickle your fancy & you get the giggles? Well that's what happened to me, you made me laugh on a horrible January Evening!!
For that thanks, I'm not laughing at you, JUST SOME OF THE POSTS THERE PRICELESS!
Take it in the Spirit it was intended, now I have explained what I am luaghing at.

Yea I know, but if you read the original post again, it mentions one Impreza owner being a d&ck, he isn't having a go at all Impreza owners.
Its just a shame how on both forums we get the usual 'your car is cack' remarks. Makes us no better than them!

I couldn't tell you when I last saw one of them on the road, would have thought they would have all rusted to pieces by now
#54
which is all the more reason why when you see a nice one you should be impressed by it ......... What a great engine it was, and must still be as it's still a chosen mod unit.

Alot of blinkered people here, some of those old MK2's are bloody quick motors.
Not my cup of tea,but can apriciate they are well put together stuff.
By the way,ScoobKillers was a joke IIRC.

I'm always quick to defend when people generally slag things off and name call ...... It makes me chuckle, people have never met someone in their life yet they feel justified in calling them sad ****** and *****.
I wonder if those same people say it to people at random as they walk down the road or whether they are simply keyboard warriors? I think I probably know the answer to that one though ......

In its day, the GTE 16V was king of the hill for hot hatches in the power stakes. A bit of a giant killer in fact. Not a lot of weight, lots of torque and 158bhp.
Most of the GTEs and 16Vs that people will see these days will be hulks kept going on a shoestring, especially if you look on ebay. Don't get me started on the ones with "custom" bodykits either, though the factory stuff doesn't seem to have aged well, so I can understand wanting to improve it, to a degree.
There's a certain addiction in having instant throttle response and reasonable torque in a lightweight car.

The GTE 16V engine used to be the unit of choice to put into various kit cars, typically the Caterams and Westfields. It was a very very good engine.
I don't think the actual cars themselves haven't aged very well, they belong to the the XR3i, 205GTi, era of the late 80's early 90's. That's not to be dismissive about them, it's just they have had thier day.
I think it's bit of a silly argument to be honest- pretty much any car can beat any other car if it's been dicked about with enough. In standard form there is only ever going to be one winner - Buit you don't buy a car because it's faster than X or Y, you buy one because you like it, have fun driving it and enjoy owning it, and as long as you have those three items checked, then who cares what anyone else thinks.
