I think Dan possibly will have one before me as I'm still not convinced, plus I've not seen anything indicating when we are getting it either, could well be the same time frame as Europe.
I was wondering how long it'd be before Cisco sued. It would not surprise me if they have another name for the device already as they really cannot be so stupid as to think that Cisco would not protect the name. From what I know it's only in the US where it's a problem, so they could call it the iPhone elsewhere, but what's the point in having different names for different locales? It'll end up being the Apple Phone or iDevice.

Last night I watched the Keynote video on Apple's site - all I can say is wow - the still pics do not do this thing justice - very highly recommended if you're still on the fence about this thing.
As for the name - it wouldnt suprise me if it got rebadged ApplePhone - similar to how the TV thingumy has been named - I thought Apple would have done that from the start though.

and I had comments from fellow workers going..." oh yeah but it is huge, I will wait until the second scaled down version comes out "
No !! have you seen the size, its pretty blinking dumgawd small as it is.
the whole cisco and sueing and naming issue is nothing.
Apple could have sued them ages ago when cisco took over the name from the merger, on the grounds that i monikers to a lot of products, especially one in development, are linked, maybe not in registration, but certainly in public belief. similar to the whole itunes uk site a few years ago.
and they could say that the cellular name should make it different enough from IP phone to allow two names to co-exist. who knows what the yanks are thinking right now
The more I read about the iPhone, the less I like it.
It looks GREAT and I like the interface style.
BUT.....
However, it has to be said that it's a few months until it's availble in the US, never mind the UK. So things could change by then

BUT.....
- No 3rd Party Apps (as in, homebrew stuff)
- No Outlook Sync
- No ability to open office files
- No user-replaceable battery

I would not be surprised if Apple and MS come out with an office for iPhone suite, or even just word and excel. As it stands Apple does not have it's own spreadsheet package for the Mac OS, though some have said the next version of iWork may include a spreadsheet.
This Office for iPhone could well also cover Outlook Syncing, either directly, or you sync the phone with your mac/pc which is configured to sync with outlook.
As for the battery, it depends on how you define user replaceable. If you mean without voiding warranty, yes, they are not user replaceable, as is the same with iPods, but as we know, the batteries can be replaced, but you'll need to crack the device open which will void the warranty. Obviously if it fails during the warranty period then you'll ship it back to Apple for replacement, again as with the iPods. Out of warranty, either pay Apple or a third party to do it, or do it yourself.
I don't think it'll be terribly difficult to replace it and once Engadget/Ars Technica have one we'll see it torn down to it's base components so we'll know more then about what battery make and model it has.
