should Pitbulls be outlawed?
#122
just found this interesting fact...
Kiel Simpson, the owner of the Pit Bull could be charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act for having the Pit Bull but not over Ellie's death, as the Act EXCLUDES dog attacks at home
and i didnt know this.............dogs need only have the characteristics of a banned type and need not be pure bred.....

did you see the pictures of the uncle in the paper today,
wasnt he a well dressed individual, showing some decency for what had happened?
A poxy tracksuit, sad to say, the more you seeof this sad state of affairs, the more you know the inevitable excuses are going to come pouring out of the woodwork.
And possibly the most galling thing. He'll prolly walk with a fine

LOL, I thought he had a look of Chaos/Audiboy about him
he got the dog to guard his drugs
Maybe Ellie found his stash, the police are continuing searching the house, so lets hope they find his stash of drugs, and not just 20kg of canabis this time

One of our two has a bit of a frothing issue, like Hooch in the movie with tom hanks, if he's beintg trainied with treats. Not pleasant, granted, but not dangerous
Add in a bark and you can replicate that picture with ease. As with any dog.

Many people - and I mean many people - have been attacked by all sorts of dogs. If you were snapped at by a jack russel when you were younger it's perfectly natural to be wary of 2 x 12 stone dogs being accompanied by someone who would struggle to control a three year old child.
As I said - I fear no dog - and they know it. My wife - who's brother had his face bitten by a collie - is more wary of all dogs - especially big *******.
It doesn't make her weak !

Why would I discuss lengths I would have to go to to avoid the prejudice and then go down the "hard man route". Anyone who has met me will vouch for the fact that is not my style.
Jees, some people have no sense of humor these days .

I guess we must be lucky in that prejuduce aside, most reasonable people we meet don't automatically assume "intimidation" and simply see a couple out walking two happy, sociable dogs.
Maybe its where we live, or maybe its just that most of urban England is so full of undesirables and has gone to **** that many of you just automatically assume the worst?

Still on the "potentials" list.
Thinking more X3 or Nissan Pathfinder tbh. Damn sight cheaper
Your wife has good reason to be wary. BTW, there are a number of dogs I dont trust and collies are one of them.
I have no issues with people being wary, Jasey, its an individuals right.
What I do object to is unfounded prejudice resulting in my wife receiving completely unjustified verbal abuse from people who really should know better.

Of all the dogs I've ever met Rotties are probably the softest of the lot - and they make great wrestling partners - but you do have to let them win

8 Pitbulls have been seized this morning
6 of them from my town, thought to have been trained for fighting, they were seized following a tip off from local residents
It looks like all 6 were taken from the same premises too
and allegedly a 23 year old man has been to the police station in connection with Ellie's death, but not arrested

if it "gets to you" you are either under 23 or a ****. Why shouldnt people react to a large animal? and why is it there fault for basing their opinions on what they hear on TV?
If i walked up to you with a tiger would you be happy or would you **** your pants because of all those silly TV shows they say they eat people?
When someone avoids a dog your walking its time to look at yourself...not them.

Keeps giving me goosebumps when I think of that poor little girl. Doesn't bear thinking about.
I could never begin to imagine the pain of losing a child like that
I would be devastated if anything happened to any of mine, let alone killed in a horrible way
R.I.P Ellie
Why people feel the need to train these animals for fighting etc is beyond me.

The *chav brat* was five years old.
You can't judge a child for her parentage, or rest of the family.
She lost her life in a tragic way. The dogs are evil. The article says *siezed* not *killed*

If it had attacked or killed the owner, fair enough - but a small child?..........

No one has said yet that these dogs will be destroyed
6 of the dogs seized look like they were from the same place, in a dog rough part of where I live (similar to beiruit) and where kept outside locked in cages, and the police suspect that these seized dogs were being trained to fight
So, no innocent dogs have or are going to get killed for it, seems fair

Have you noticed that more and more animals that are on the loose are 'too dangerous to handle' and have to be shot at the scene.
In Florida you can call a bloke to come and remove a 12 foot alligator from your swimming pool alive and well.... here in the UK you need a pig SWAT team to riddle your family pet with bullets.
