Very interesting, but I'm still not sure what the actual reason for removing it IS? What's the point? Weight reduction of the 500 grams or whatever it weighs? So you can hear the whirring and clicking from the engine? Help me out here!

Well half way down the first page i was putting my lining back in, but after reading all comments its staying out.

I originally removed it last year to reduce under bonnet heat and i now have 340 horses under there, so it has worked a treat.

I suppose that might make a little difference. I doubt that the slow transfer of radiant heat off of your bonnet is doing a great deal to keep your engine bay cool though. Still, every little helps I suppose.

Mine was out of my MY01 for it's life with me of 2 years.

I experienced no ill effects.

I experienced no positive effects either mind!!

Mine was getting a little tatty, and i think looking at a completely blue bonnet underneath its a lot better than part black/yellow tattyness!

Its off now ftw!

I would bet an awful lot of money that it doesn't, just like it wouldn't have carpets or any other form of sound deadening.
