you must try both! thats a must!

you just cant beat the scooby package, services, performance the lot if you go with the mitsi you will understand what i am on about.

you need to go a lot better than a fq300 even tuned to equal a spec c. please trust me.

Are we talking about the 2005 spec c?

i had an 03 blob eye from litchfields the webmaster"shaun" has it now its all over sn.

i cant comment on the newer one but the one i had was 335 bhp/torque handled like nothing else . The evo was smokey at 350 bhp but the scoob had it in every aspect.

That's the one i'd be going for, my budget won't stretch to a MY06.

What makes them handle so well?

Also, (although I understand your point that it's not really necessary) how far can you go with regards to tuning without changing the turbo/intercooler?

not to sure on the tech stuff ask powerstation its bread and butter to them.

the handeling was sublime, you know exactly where the line is not to cross its far more involving the evo is rediculasly good on handeling, its just no where near as involving.

you can get bored with an evo after a while. i had the evo after the spec c . the spec c always made me smile especially with a full decat miltek on. the evo was a bit predictable after a while,

sorry ...........scoob for me.

Matt, about 360 on a JDM. Some have gone further.

Go find Bob Rawle's excellent thread in Projects. The twin scroll is very potent.

Bad quote?

I've had both, and think the Scooby is a better all round package. The 05 Sti is head and shoulders above a classic so make sure you get out in one, and I prefer the look of the 05 vs 06. I always found I had to drive the Evo hard in order to enjoy it, rumbling around town is not the Evo's forte. Of course that puts you on collision course with Mr Pod and his hand held so not recommended

I had the recent option to buy either. I really wanted a V9 JDM STi in white. Slim chance! Also was looking for an EVO but as second choice if im honest.

I found an STi in white at APi which had been in some form of large smack, and had just sold the S2000 so I came home carless.

It drove really well and I love sitting behind that scoop, the slight rumble (reduced from the eq length headers) and the interior is much nicer too.

But the right EVO came up and coulnt not go for it. Its growing on me by the day, and while I dostill love scoobs, I really dislike the image. I rarely see another EVO, but I often see a UK blob eye big blue and gold scoob bouncing down the road. the EVO gets loads of respect too. Ive had loads of people give the thumbs up on the side or the road, ranging from kids to old people

Also, after having 5 scoobs I think a change was best. I also canvassed opinion round the office and it was about 10:1 for the EVO!

Odd how they are so different, for what is such a similar platform!

sorry .........i dont buy that about the office opinion just shows how rare a spec c is and if they knew about the spec c then the opinion would be 10;1 in favour, me thinks

if you want to impress the right folk "enthusiasts" then the spec c is a winner it takes a good evo to outgun the spec c.

When did the Spec C come into it??

I think there is very little difference between an Evo and a Spec C - that is a much fairer comparisson.

Outgun? Look, none is going to outgun the other in the real world! We are being sucked into journalist "this is 0.1 second quicker than that" bull**** IMO. You really think if my FQ300 with 360 plus bhp is going to outrun a spec C or vice versa? I say 360 because you mention a tuned FQ300 would not compare to a stock Spec C. A stock FQ300 is a genuine 300 bhp I might add

Both great bits of kit though.

Well if thats a good enough reason to buy one then fair play to you

Im guessing you only use your car on track and when you do drive on the road, you always have the opportunity to go flat out, and that every split seconds count?

Think we need some perspective here.

When we say one is quicker than the other round the track, what are we talking here? A second? half a second? Big deal.

Plus, you are then introducing driver skill. You would need 2 equal drivers for a fair test, with the same tyres etc.

My point is, most of us drive 99% of the time on the road. Does that 0.5 second really matter, or does it then come down to other little factors factors that help you decide one over another?

totally agree with you i was on about buying a car on its "presance" exclusivity.

i have had both spec c and modded evo8 fq300 even day to day driving i would take the scoob, my evo had a bast ard clutch on it.

scoobs are "easy" cars to own a lazy car , one cheap service a year and thats it.

They won't provide cover on a vehicle higher than group 18 due to my age .

I'd swap companies, but i'm exactly half way through my term, so i'd be put back 6 months from achieving another years NCB, and the next one is 4 years, so important in the sense that i'll be able to protect them.

Role on June...

Spend the extra and buy the MR over a normal Evo8, you get the alloy roof, nicer lights, alot better interior, and possibly Bilstein suspension if your lucky too, depends if the previous owner specced it or not.

The MR also has the bigger turbine housing, different cams and as per every Evo you will get more power out of it for less outlay than the model previous to it (i.e. the Evo 8).

I would tend to agree. My FQ300 now has MR wheels (£600) MR suspension (£350) and power hike to 360 ish bhp (£1300)

Already had the leather upgrade though.

Was a fair bit cheaper than an MR however, and an alloy roof I wouldnt notice. You can get the nice dark grey though!
