Have to admit that I haven't purchased MAX POWER for around a year or so now. I'm honest and don't give crap what anyone says. I buy or types of DIFFERENT things.
I used to buy it when I was younger to get some ideas on how many people mod there car. "EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT". Some cars I admit are complete ****e IE a 1.1 Pug 106 zest a couple of years ago that the guy spent 12k on and had a huge exhaust system on it with a K&N 57i kit. Most of the money was on ICE , bodykit and paint. Madness.
The F & F YEARS did prove to be repetitive and you still see the odd Civic dressed up as though there about to following the next Lorry.
Remember some people have different budgets to others.
As for the semi jazz mag it is. Some you would gladly swap your dorris for where as some you would only swap your cheese and pickle sandwhich for.
Who cares. The may point is that a guy has spent a lot of time on his and his mates car and it has been noticed. Well done that man. If it was in JAP PERFORMANCE would people be giving the same reaction?
Maybe ask some ex Scooby owners who come on the forum who now own RS6,4's .......& Porsches or even Fords and see what they say about JAP cars? Most of us have been there at some point.
Anyway
Steve

Well done m8, to make any car magazine take notice of your scoob is a credit.
Myself i have always thought although they have a big write up on each car they don't go into detail. If you read bike magazine's they go quite into depth about the engine internals, Streetfighter for example talk about how and why certain modifications have been done.
They never seem to touch on the engineering done by the several companies named "with thanks" or why exactly certain mod's have been done rather than others.
There's also the side where it looks perfect outside, nice Xbox mounting, Massive stereo that means you can't fit any passengers, and neons to highlight just how much work has gone into it and then when you read "engine internals" its basically bog standard. Thats not a car-enthusiast its an ICE enthusiast and should be in What Stereo Magazine.
Then you notice they never test drive any of the cars. It could have £100k of gold plating over the bodywork but you have no idea if its even slightly quick. Its almost touching the floor and the rims scraping the arches but does it handle even remotely well?.
I get the idea the actual editors and reporters have no idea about the internals of an engine. They should take time to explain things like what a camshaft is, how it works and what the benefits of fitting an after-market cam are/would be.
Personnally it all comes to to the word "tuned". You know....
"Yeah its tuned m8"
"What do you mean tuned"
"Tuned! you know, its quick!"
"Yeah but whats been done to it?"
"Bloke i bought it from says it was tuned, its well quick clock goes up to 150"
"Flowed? Upped the compression ratio? Lighter crank?"
"Yeah fink so....."
Oh and as for having topless girls all over the cars, it just shows its actually a magazine for kiddies still at school. They may as well call it "Go on have a ****, all your m8's do it" magazine. For christs sake it even has a section for people to display their art coursework.

To the guy who started this thread ......... fair play to you matey, Max Power isn't my choice of magazine, but the fact that your car and your mates are in there means you have probably spent a fair bit of money on them.
To all those who took the **** ........... Get a life, you go out and buy a car which looks like its been reversed through Halfords shop window and come out with every crappy extra fitted (yep thats the std impreza for you) and have the gaul to take the mickey out of someone without even seeing what his car looks like ........
muppets.........
For those of you who follow me round the threads ...... that was the first time I have been scalling about the impreza..... I was provoked

I've got some old Max Powers kicking around in the loft, prob 12 years old, and it was quite a good interesting mag. Cars were featured mainly for having highly modified engines and chassis etc. The kinda stuff that appeals to car enthusiasts of all ages.
Then came the fast and furious era! Max Power just seemed to encourage people to do this wierd **** totheir cars. It was no longer about engineering and mechanics of a car. It was about **** off huge stereos (that slow the car down) and body kits wiv big chrome wheels (that slow the car down).
Each to their own and all that, and well done for getting a mag feature. But magazines like Max Power and Fast Car just seemed to forget their more mature(?!) readers and market towards kids and wannabe gangsters! Maybe it was just a marketing strategy, and they worked out that they'd sell more mags if they featured this stuff.
At the end of the day, in my opinion its a **** mag because it doesn't appeal to me (apart from the half nekid 16 year olds!). Its a shame it changed, but no-one is forced to buy it.
I spose the editors are just moving with the times, and we're all getting older!

I can see what people are saying about Max Power, and i never went out to get my car featured in a mag (any mag).
But i have done nearly all the work on my car and my mates Supra, and can any one honstly say that if a mag wanted to feature your car you would say no?.
My car from the outside is near standered except small top tint on screen and STI front splitter, but they still featured it. Not every car in Max Power is over modified, but a lot are. And of course the over the top ones will get featured.
I see it as some kind of recognition of all the time, money and work ive spent on my car. Im not a rich man and every penny i have spent on it has been erned the hard way. I have two jobs and some weeks work up to 70 hours to get the money for my interest.
Plus is it not nice for the Subaru community as a whole to have a "not over the top" modded car featured, to show its not all about tacky body kits and stick on led lights and such?
To all the people with postive comments THANK YOU i appricate it.
To all the people with negative comments, im stil chuffed to bits my cars in a mag.
Jase.
