What Makes a Scoob "Chav" ????
Half this forum seem to use the word Chav quite a lot when describing fellow scoob's ?
What in your mind makes a scoob suddenly become Chav?.
Decals ? BOV Dump valves ?????
(Just so i know what to aviod!)

Decals and BOV's like you mentioned can in my opinion be chav or not chav dependant on the choice. If the decals are done right then its fair play but there are too many half arsed "look at me I drive a subaru" cars about rather than true rally reps. With BOV's again I see no problem with them aslong as its not some stupid valve with a huge bell on it to increase the volume of the "psssshhh" sound. Subtle/subtle-ish is fine. But having an audible BOV for the sake of having a BOV - oh dear
Like Ryo said, poor bodykits, they shuold be restricted to minor mods that only have a subtle change to the OEM kit for example splitters, just add that little bit extra agressiveness without looking OTT. Any sort of rear aftermarket lights is a no no unless they stick to the OEM theme and flow well but at the end of the day everyone is different. I think the word "chav" is too widely used.

All of that is rubbish......
Nothing makes it Chav.....just some of the moronic Subaru owners saying whatever they personally don't like = must make it chav......
Then you'll get the trolls saying it's because they have gold wheels and a big rear spoiler.....
Personally I like cheap peformance......Why buy a T350C when you can spend half the money for better performance......."But it's a TVR!"
and it'll more than likely blow up like one.....
Then I can spend the money saved on decals, lexus lights, BOV etc etc etc

the fact that they are now so many of them, and as a consequence they are a cheaper and within the reach of pikeys who buy them 'cos they're fast innit'.
It is this crowd who then insist on making there cars look and sound hideous, drive like c**ts and bring the marque down.
There used to be a time when imprezas were bought by men 'in the know' as something a bit different from a performance BMW, now those men know not to and buy cars such as the Evo instead, which incidentally is also on a downhill slide to chavdom and all round pikeiness

incidentally, though I don't try and care what people think of what I wear, drive, listen too etc, it's starting to become a bit embarrasing driving an impreza...
work colleagues are always surpised to see me driving in a scoob from the work car park as it doesn't fit the grey hair management image that I project in the office

They don't make it a chav, just look cheap and nasty.

Lexus rear lights are king of chav/bad taste/crap not just on a Subaru but any car they look awful, combine them with Tattoo graphics, plastic spinners, neons, windscreen wiper jet LED's and you have a car you just can't help but laugh at!

Cheap I agree with but lexus lights and graphics don't make a car chav, they're not like by most but don't make it chav

lol, makes interesting reading this. No body-kit, strobes, lexus lights or boooming stereo on mine. Although i do have a front splitter on its way, maybe i should re-consider . Oh and Alloys are 17" Subaru standard (though not std on mine)5 split-spoke as seen i believe on later models.

The fact the word CHAV actually exists in your vocab means you have issues IMHO.
What is it?
Someone who mods his car outside of your tastes?
Someone who is young and likes loud music?
Someone who like Maccy Dee's car park?
Someone who cruises round in the evening baiting his mates to race?
Please explain what this breed is and why you think you are different?
I guess I must have been a CHAV when I was a lad, it's just that it was termed something else back then.....

I mentioned "very loud RnB or Hip Hop" but I would put this in conjunction with the other bits I mentioned, like the body kits, put them all together and its proper chav.
I take it you like RnB and / or Hip Hop?
Now you've got me started...... ......I cant understand why people see the need to listen to RnB/Hip-Hop/House with the bass at obscene volumes so every panel in the car rattles whilst they are in traffic?
Is it because the driver wants everyone else to hear how urban they are, how much bass they've got, and how bad they are?
Whats the point? Do you see people playing Led Zeppelin or Vivaldi that loud whilst in a traffic jam?
I used to do it in my XR2 back in 94. I had an Alpine kit & bass tube, and I used to listen to Jungle very loud with the bass turned way up so the insides of the car rattled and all the light clusters shook. But back then I was 18, loved Jungle and wanted to be bad ***.
Now I'm older I dont care about broadcasting my urban music knowledge or badness, and tend to listen to music at a reasonable level, whatever the music is.
Yeesh Im getting old, what a rant!

Whatever, this all amounts to bad taste, which in the end is all down to individual tastes and opinion. So no surprise people are arguing about taste and opinion on this thread because both are personal viewpoints
