I like the little shopping bag hook in the boot of my wagon. It's actually pretty useful (keeps your takeaway or B&Q bags with paint tins in them from tipping over), but the drawing of how to use it in the manual is quite amusing, it's a little old lady's shopping bag, like it's going to be driven by someone who own a bag like that!

Yeah but we do get the trip meter tho, so you can see how many miles you get to the tank albeit not a lot.

Third gear in my Grandad's Sunny - he used to go from 2nd to 4th everytime for 'economy'....

Loads of fun for people following him.......

Oh, and the headgasket on a R5 turbo.......

Interior/boot lights with 5 watt bulbs. I've seen fireflies give better illumination.

Headlamp washers. The heat from the headlamps dries on the dirt so a blast of water won't work, no matter how many times you press the button.

Sidelights (except for parking). Only used by drivers who don't realise the switch turns an extra notch for the headlamps and end up driving round in the dark not being able to see eff all.

Boot spoilers. Only thing they do is increase drag and lower mpg, they don't even give downforce which is what the racing counterparts are supposed to do.

Cubby holes and dash recesses that nothing will fit or stay in, where everything flies out of as soon as you pull away/turn sharply.

Fuel guages. Lets face it, most say empty when you still have 3 gallons left in the tank.

Oil pressure waning light: Often called the "idiot light" For obvious reasons. as many people don't know what it means and think it means low oil level or whatever and carry on driving It only needs 2-3psi to turn off, so if it comes on whilst driving, get a can of petrol and torch the car - your insurance excess is cheaper than a new engine

Power steering (especially on a small car/performance car). If you can't drive without it - you shouldn't be driving. You girly armed wimp

Plastic engine covers. Ok it makes it look pretty, but it makes it impossible to visually inspect the engine and ancillaries, complicates MOT, and adds another 15mins to any labour when a garage has to work on your car.

My brother used to have a 3.5ton truck without power steering - that was interesting to park

I thought this thread was pointless car equipment, no?

95% of cars have over-assisted steering imo. If my Land Rover is easy enough to drive without it, then a 1.1 Clio dynamique doesn't need it either
