still dont understand why every1 building up pictures of scooby drivers being chavs! round our way its escorts, peugeots and astras...can understand if a scoob was done up all in burberry!! but generally round in the south i dont see many "chav" scooby drivers they tend to be all older!

As I said before, a car cannot be "Chav". Chav is a term applied to humans.

Cars are never responsible for those who drive them; they are just metal, rubber and wires!

The classic Impreza became popular with Chavs, as they were performance icons when new (no silly arguments, please) and are now at an age where they are affordable on a modest budget (insuring and looking after them is another issue). Chavs have big aspirations, but limited means. Thus anything that was expensive and highly regarded that becomes cheap through age is at risk.

They're going off them now, cause the dross is being crashed and expiring through not being looked after or old age, leaving the cream of the crop, which is not cheap! See where this is going!

Make no mistake, the remaining classics will once again command the staus they once had as the predominant owner profile changes and the values for good uns will be very healthy.

If anyone thinks their marque is safe, they're kidding themselves. In the trade there is a saying: "before a car becomes a classic it becomes cheap".

This is EXACTLY what they're referring to!!

I went to school with a few chavs in the Eighties.

Its origins is actually Gypsy Slang for 'Child' and it was a term that was up there with the likes of 'Chored it' (Stole it)' etc..

I have to say, that I agree that people do view Subaru's as having gone down hill, in the last 5 years when you say you drive one. 'Bit of a boy racer are you' etc..

Im not near 40 yet and buy a car for the way it drives, rather than the way it looks.

But, I have to say I do not like the Lexus rear lights and led clip on parts that you can buy in Halfords either. Are they Chav, I don't know? Are they the current Schoolboys idea of cool on a first car - Yes.

I used to think those rear static strips and louvres look the danglies when I was 17. It lasted a year or two.

The same thing happened to RS Turbos, when they became cheap. Its happening to EVO's and M3's now and will happen to TT's and S4's next.

No imo because they actually serve a use (my hoses are 13 yo in my car so when i start to increase the power i don't want any split hoses so good quality hoses) unlike LED washers
