Was barely faster than the Sti and still slower than the old Evo let alone the new one, in the end. They were giggling at it.

Are you refering to the turbo lag example due to its bigger turbo? If so who would drive their car in that high a gear at such low revs, its was just a show point. The Evo 400 keeps up with a Lambo on the track and forced it into a mistake and that was JC against a pro driver, what Scooby does that?
i'll tell you, NONE!
face it Burnhead, Scooby is second best, all you comment on is mods or jap imports. Even they can't compare to teh 400. DREAM, DREAM Dream Oh Dream.....

One of mates owns a tweaked EVO VI and we've had many bouts. At the moment I'm in the lead in terms of overall package (thanks to recent remap at Powerstation), but I wouldn't call his car sh1te. When he fits a 2.3l forged stroker kit and remaps the HKS 3037S turbo at 1.6 or may be 1.8 BAR, he'll have a 450 bhp monster, but he won't call mine sh1te.
Why can't everyone agree that Evo's and Scoobies are both high performance cars that are great value for money when it comes to launching you from 0-60 or 0-100, coupled with not too shabby handling out of the box?

Who cares? I couldn't care less if a scooby or evo could keep up with a Lambo round a track, big deal. At the end of the day, what car would you want to go home in. Let me give you a clue, it won't be the jap car!

Most on here are just getting into the argument for the fun of it (well I am) we all know hat they are same cars basically. Some people mention no Mods should be spoken about but that obviously means they don't realise all the FQ series are modified So if you mention an Evo FQ you are talking of a modified Car from standard lol

Reano, yes all FQ's are modified over GSR spec but they are like that from the showroom
Its like saying an STi is a modified WRX!
But I think you know that

I'd consider getting an evo next or a scoob sti - i got a good look at one earlier as it was stuck to my bumper down a dual carriageway, i even pulled over to let him past but he stayed where he was, a mozzie would have had difficulty flying through the gap!! - some nutty driver egging me on no doubt!

I've never understood why peeps ask about the difference in two completely different cars? Comparing an Evo with a Scooby is like comparing an M3 with a Cosworth!! The Evo is completely different to a Scooby! I originally was gona get an Evo, but after my horrendous insurance quote, and a chat with a Jap importer I decided on the Scooby. The Scooby, I think, is a more subtle "rally" type car, that can be used every day but still let rip on the track at the weekend. The Evo is much more of a harder, and more raw drive, so of course the Evo will win hands down!!
IMHO you should test drive both, and then work out which feels more comfortable for you as the driver! I feel so "connected" to my Scooby, as weird as it sounds! More so than any other car I've owned or driven! I never actually took an Evo for a test drive, but I do wonder if it would make me feel the same!!?

My Impreza V my friends Evo 8
Hi. I was just reading some of the threads and I thought some of you may find the following interesting:-
I own a P1 (308/1000) and a good friend of mine purchased a 330hp Evo 8 with 15K on the clock. He threw me the keys and off we went. Having never driven an EVO before I was looking forward to comparing it to mine. Oh dear, what a BIG disappointment. Ok, my P1 is not standard, its currently running at 348hp f/m/ intercooler - HKS induction - DeCat s/steel exhaust - all new Prodrive 330mm brakes etc etc but it was just a different league. I did not want to upset my friend as he had only just got the EVO so I decided the best thing to do was to let him drive my car. He did, and soon realised the difference between the two

Power delivery is totally different though. P1 gives all its power in one big go, real shove in the back, where the EVO is linear so you dont feel it.
I think you might be surprised if you put them side by side. Nowt in it I would think.
I had a bit of a race with Davey P the other day, him in his 340 ish bhp P1, and me in 360 ish bhp Evo 8. Nothing in it - I wasnt gaining, and he wasnt getting away.
People need to realise that you need a LOT more bhp than another car to give it a real beating...

Your comment Mark, on the EVO being smoother on accelaration is a remark I have read and heard many times. I agree, it would be interesting having a side by side with my friends EVO, and we are in the near future. I will write with the details of the event.

is the linear power delivery more a feature of the much later evo's? even when my 6 was standard it had a much more ferocious "kidney punch" than the P1 I test drove and the STi3 I briefly owned

Not with the tyres I had on Davey
All sorted now and grips like foook. Welcome for a go in it sometime.
Not sure on the older versions Scub. The 7 8 and 9 really like to rev.
