Hi,

Ironically I was allergic to cats too, especially long haired ones. After going to pick up our cat from the rescue centre my eyes were streaming and I couldn't even drive for a short while afterwards until they'd settled down again. I've found that my constant exposure to cats has made the allergy practically disappear!

I think that any help, no matter what shape or form it is in, would be very much appreciated by animal shelters, they do so much for the animals there and it is such a shame when they have to put dogs to sleep because they just can't get them a new homw

Funnily enough, I was saying last night that since having the little chap here who found us, I would love to do more to help, there must be so many dogs out there lost wanting to go back to their owners, as well as all the abandoned ones, but it took me back to what the vet said, about taking in every one you see, you would soon have a VERY full house LOL.

Would be good to have a kennel, part for boarding and part for rescue, hoping that some of the fees charged from boarding would help fund the rescue dogs, but I would probably get unindated with lost and abandoned animals and hardly any boarding I haven't a clue where funding could come from either

At the back of us, there is a farmers field and it is huge, if he would sell it, that would be a great place to build a shelter

It's all probably no more than just an idea, but it would be great if it became a realilty.

Our lab isn't pedigree, that wasn't important, what was important was that we knew the owners of the bitch who had the litter, and she was a great dog too. He's a fantastic dog and that's all that matters. My first dog was from a rescue shelter though He was ace too

Cool

What utter sentimental claptrap that was.

Yes, animal cruelty does go on, and it is terrible, but that film would have us believe that millions upon millions of animals are being left to die cruelly just because the birth rate outstrips the human one? Ha! What a load of crap.

You don't even know if the animals in that film have been treated cruelly or not. They could have been hit by cars, in fights with other animals, simply diseased. A cleverly constructed piece of smulsh to ganrner sympathy and money.

Those bins could simply have been full of animals that have died or been put down as a matter of course in a large city veternary surgery. You imagine how many pets there are in NY or LA.

Animal cruelty is a blight, but come on, it's not quite like that.

My wife works for a large company and asks for everybody to donate 1 tin of dog or pack of dog biscuits - doesn't cost people much and then we take them to Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home at Harperhey - we're taking a big pack of doggie treats to them next weekend and they are very very grateful - why not do something for your local dogs/cats home
