have been talking about this for the last few months with me mates and with folk on SIDC
it seems a common thing that the more track days and events of the like the slower you become on the road.
my mates have been going to quite a few bike track days and this year i was able to go to 3 track days at knockhill, the last one being a tad wet and ended up spinning a full 360 out of the hairpin
my point being, you seem to get over the fact of having to prove yourself on the road
i dont mean to say that i'm driving like Ms Daisy, far from it
it's just that the need aint there, you know in your self that you can drive on the limit if need be and set a fast lap/time or whatever
it's just that you sort of realise that you dont need to prove yourself to everyone and his dog that you have a fast car and can drive it as such.
yes i drove my car like a spoon when i first got it, yes i got over it
yes i still do have moments of madness
i think we all do

I've never been a mad driver and always try and adhere to the 30mph speed limit in built up areas in "sociable hours". There is a time and place to enjoy a car's performance. I simply can't put my foot down in the my car when it's not appropriate to do so, as in seconds I'm at licence loosing/irresponsible speeds!
Put me in a normal car and it's loud pedal welded to the floor time, partly due to frustration: my "regular" car weighs around 1200 kilos and has 320bhp, and partly because I can without it resulting in big bursts of speed and a fear of having my collar felt by the good old Bill!
I do love the performance though and deliberately take the car out to use it on appropriate roads and at appropriate times whenever I can. No point paying over the odds for the performance if you're not going to use it.
You just have to grow up a bit and exercise appropriate discretion when you get a performance car; things happen much quicker and the speeds that accidents occur at tend to be significantly higher.

Two quick points.
If you are not going to drive quickly then you're wasting a fortune running a Scoob.
I bet you'd have at least as much fun taking a low powered lightweight car to the limit on those roads and you wouldn't have to worry about the Plod.

It depends on what your like normally, hopefully it will wear off. if you drive like a t*t 24/7 then you will end up without a license or worse in a box.

(flame suit on) but anyone who owns a subaru and dosnt 'from time to time' open it up a little, is either lying or shouldnt have one as whats the point otherwise, why own a really fast car and drive it at 30mph
If people want to drive very sensibly all the time, good on em, but why oh why own a scoob
go buy a 1.1 fiesta and have loads more money in your pocket.
Hope this dosnt rub anyone up the wrong way as its not supposed too, just the way i feel
By the way, before anyone toastes me, i only 'go a bit faster' late on at night, when the roads are empty, and when im on my own in the car, that way if anything bad does happen, its only me that suffers, i never drive like a prat in built up areas, or at busy times, as thats simply careless

That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of spirited driving now and then but generally my car has made me feel a more mature and responsible driver.
