I have a 535d and an evo 7. The 535d and most of the bmw oil burners are overated imho. The car is quick yes (and handles like a narrow boat), but not as quick as some numptys make out even with its 400 odd lbs of tq. My evo 7 has filter exhuast ecu and boost wound up and would whoop my 535ds *** big style so god knows what a M5 would do. The BMW oil burners are quick but dont get carried away they aint that quick

I think both were to be honest or they were'nt really trying. If you notice towards the end of the video, they are just coming to the long straight bit before the end and the clock was showing 8 minutes 30, so I guess that their total laptime would have been well over the 10 minute mark. For an M6, this is slow.

Here's a prime example, from 60mph up, I couldn't pass a black Volvo S60 2.0T on a stretch of dual carriageway. We both gave it some at the same time, he pulled over and I was barely gaining on him by the time he turned off. And yes, I had dropped into the correct gear before you ask.

to each other post blat, so it was good natured.

Are wrx's really that slow mid range...? It doesn't feel it...?

Oh, and it wasn't an unmarked car either, It had a private plate, so I knew I was safe..!!

Nige.
03 WRX.

with Dave.

Seriously though, as the days and miles go by and newer cars come out, I'm realising very quickly that a WRX is not a fast car. It's a shame, but they do say to never meet your heroes..!!

I think Beef has made all the relevant points. Ill take notice of diesels when they become the flagship performance motor in the range OR I need better fuel economy.

M3, M5, M6 - All petrol. Coincidence?
