Fab results, well done!
The shaved rear doors look really good and very effective, just like an Alfa 156!
Show how fast things happen with the right tackel and the right skills.
Look forward to the finale!
(though at your speed, you have probably finished it by now...)

Impressive. How long did it take you to get to this level of expertise Jake, and did you get any help with the prep/painting?

nope, i did all the work mysel bar the filler, i hate bog lol. to time consuiming.

well as its a famliy run business i've been there all my life, i used to sit on the paint counter getting the tinters down for my mum to mix paint,

i started to work my school hols when i was about 12 this was to pay for my other hobby ice hockey, now i play mainly roller hockey though.

i have never really had any formal training, just learn as you do it, my dad wont take any stick and is a super pefectionist he also insists on a clean work shop.

im now just 24 (1st jan) so id say i've been doing it since 16 so 8yrs .

i also do the estimating, and insurance computer work too, alot of strings to my bow.

£1600 would be a bargain..... i'd consider getting my car done if i still have it in a few years..... price would be different of course... but money well spent.....

Is it my eyes, or is the fuel flap slightly off colour?

i think it does look off colour, but it could be the angle, im starting to see loads of things as i've been looking at that much bloody white.

seen as i had another pair of hands around (workers) i poped some panels on the car, it really changes its look

Think you gonna struggle refitting the front and rear window rubbers... I did when I had some paintwork done to MY00 UK turbo... don't the clips for the rubbers sit under the screen and stick in with the window bond???
Good luck anyway...

2 nutra grain bars, lol

i got the roof moldings in, not to much fuss but you are correct they sit in the screen bonding, and when its dry it is tough stuff i just cut out where the clip went and used some window bonding sealer to fit the roof moldings, there now stuck up over night ready for tomorrow

DONE

at last,

just a few extras that need finishing, like under bonnet stuff,

had a mini valet today, just to get it clean, will have a propper wet vac clean tomorrow, not that it needs it.

just to note, i didn't take a pic of this, i put floor carpet underlay on the entire floor pan of the car and loads of sound deadening in all the door, backing it out i could tell the difference.

with out further a do pics.

so a break down then:

i used:

4.5 litres of base coat
6.5 litres of lacquer
50 assorted flatting discs
buffing componds
window bonding

the time i spent to do this 50.5 hrs

now if i were charging for this job:

labour £1265.50
paint £600.00

having my perfectionist dad rip it to shreds priceless,

cant believe it never has a good word too say, just spent the last 10 mins having him nit pic aaarrrggghhhh

final pic-car lit by xenon's

here's the engine bay for starters.

the induction kit off ebay fit like ****, it was too short, leaving the filter right next to the engine. so a few cuts here and there, a bing or too and my green hirricane filter in now goes into the arch for cooler air, i also took the filter out of the air box

That is a great result, and a good project, don't live far from Rochdale,
Looks like i know were to go now if any panels need spraying.
For info how do you get all the crap off the car, that hides under the bumper and all the wax they spray under the bonnet.
I take it if it is washed off everything has to go through a drying process.
