With regards to the software needed. Will it be a case of us all chipping in together and "downloading" to our own laptops.

Or do we need our own package each

There is software for these devices which is available for free.

However as a pointer, here are a couple of recommendations. At this stage i am only going on what i have read about this software and have not tried them myself.

On the OBDPro web site there is a software section which lists a load of both comercial and free versions. Alternatively click here OBDPros

Another one to add to the pot though is -

Digitmoto - Digimoto OBDII Vehicle Diagnostic Solutions ($38.95 / £19.95)

Some offer a trial version for you to test out before you buy.

As for us all getting the same software, i personally don't think this is the best option. Some may like to have the option to display virtual gauges for 'bling' factor etc, where others may just want the core data displayed in graphs for mechanical fault finding / tuning. Each piece of software is different depending on its useage.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunatly guys, with the additional person theres comes additional expense for postage and packing. Originally it was approximately £47.34, now it is...........wait for it.............£47.75

This is for the 7 units, p&p after a 16% discount. This estimation is based on todays currency conversion and not including any import tax etc we 'may' incurr.

Keep you posted as always.

Trickie - Sorry, you're a couple of days to late mate. However, if you wanted to see if there are few more people who wanted them, then i can arrange another GB. Failing that, i can see what is the best deal i can get for your single item. I'm sure it will be better than if you ordered from his web site.

Our ones have been real fun !! I went to Barclays to get the money order, but they had run out of US ones !! There normal price for a Money Order is £8, but they said they can get a Bankers Draft, but that has to be ordered, these normally cost £15. But as they had run out of Money Orders, they would do the draft for free.

The draft was for $653 which equates to £334.79. Then i got my bank statement !! Instead of charging me £334.79 they charged me £653 sterling, obvioulsy a £318.21 overcharge !! Nice, just what i needed. Will have to wait till after the holidays to bring this mess to their attention.

Hoepfully it should be fairly straight forward as i have the receipt etc thankfully.

Trickie - Let me know what you would like to do.

Bankers draft has been sent, just waiting for the units.

Shouldn't be long now

Those of us in Essex will have to arrange a meet up with cars and laptops etc to try these out.

Default Additional OBD Purchasers

Thanks for your interest guys. What i suggest is we wait until the first batch arrives (hopefully within the next week or so), that way we can have a play around with them and we'll clarify the import tax position etc.

It will be no problem getting more, i just suggest we wait until the first ones arrive. Plus it gives other people the oportunity to have a look at them as i'm sure there will be more purchasers once people see how useful they are. Then we can do another largish order.

I will start another list for now though so people can add names etc. When you add your name, please state which module you would like USB or Serial.
  1. Scooby New - type ?
  2. Trickie - type ?

Drive by wire uses electrical signals from an accelerator pressure switch to open and close a solenoid on the throttle body, so does away with the old mechanical cable

Good news guys on the OBD readers, the bankers draft has been received in the US and they are on their way. Expected delivery time 4-6 days.

This puts it on target for me to bring them with me at the next HWH meet on the 11th Jan

Speak soon.
