Love the look & feel of the site.
Gallery is spot on. I take it entries will be by request/submission to admin.
Running costs in the future need bearing in mind but are do-able.
How much duplication will be involved? Will we have to post things on both sites to be sure they are seen?

I guess this is where I come in then
I think Tissy has done some good work on the site and it looks great. It is also pleasing to see the good feed back from everybody so far
I do have strong views on forums and I firmly agree that the ESC forum should stay on a national level . and therefore the new site should not include a forum but just be a showcase of what a great club it is
So a big Nate oppps from me and keep the ideas and comments coming

Whilst this looks really nice, I personally have reservations about the eventual use of this – When I am logging in, I only ever look at Scoobynet when looking for the ESC – there are a number of other sites that are frequently mentioned where members go off and do things on ‘em (motorpoint pops into my mind as one example and I think there is another one that has started up showing the cars and I vaguely remember someone saying that a new ‘car’ site seemed to be mainly full of ESC members)………
I personally never pay much attention to those other sites, I might have a quick look if someone puts a relevant link into a SN thread, but otherwise I don’t bother – everything I want to read about is already on SN! – I don’t have any problem with the existing SN format and I don’t see the need for the proposed changes…… even though they are nicely presented.
If this site goes ahead, then whilst I accept that the majority rules, I suspect that I personally can’t see me looking at it that often unless a relevant link is put into a SN thread to take me to it. – and if the thread is already in place in SN, why would I want to bother to go look elsewhere?
Most of the people making their comments about this are backing it (which is fine), but from a personal point of view, I’m saying “not sure at all”…….

Looie - I take on board what you say, but the purspose of this site is not to detract from SN and the current format it represents. This will NOT be another site with another sub-forum etc. This will mearly be a portal for ALL members to have a 'one stop' place to get the latest useful information on club only issues.
Imagine you were a new member and you were confronted with the SN forum and threads, it could be a bit confusing at first. Someone like yourself, as you rightly say, may not need to visit the site as you know most of the members and what the ESC is about etc, so you can still link to the ESC thread anyway without going to the site.
It will contain all the important features like a nice clear calendar view of upcoming events, members profile / cars, past and present news letters etc. The news letter feature will now allow the news letter to be available to all, whether they attend any meets or not. This alone could reduce printing costs etc and present the past 6 months back catalogue of newsletters.
Hope this clarifys any concerns you may have had and if you have any other questions, fire away.

Just had another thought...
on the page where you can buy the ESC clothing can there not be pics of the shirts for sale...
As this site is really intended for things that need to be known, I think new members who have not yet been to a meet etc etc should be able to see what shirt they wish to purchase...
Just an idea
p.s I don't mind modelling
p.p.s Tissy you have Decembers Newsletter in your ntl inbox

Come on then all you potential models (male or female), lets see some tasteful pictures of you wearing the ESC shirts etc or just of the ****s etc ontheir own.
I don't posess any at the moment (collecting Carlsberg polo at next meet), so any pictures posted i will add to the site so you can see what it is like.
Another great idea

TBH, I'm not fussed either way.
However, I do agree with Looie. It just seems that all the new site would be doing is replicating everything that gets posted up on here. On the other hand, I do see what Tissy is aiming at.
Me sitting on the fence?? Never!!!!
BTW, I take it this would only be open to residents of Essex, rather then wannabees living in God forsaken places like Bucks

If we go with this idea all it will need is for you to click on "Forum " Within the new site & you will be directed here

The bit at the top says "This poll will close on 26 December 2006 at 18:30", so I have an idea it might be over soon after that.....
