Under the sog act, the console should be fit for the purpose,
any console that fails within the manufacturers g/tee period must be replaced. If they send a refurb, it must be covered to the end of the original g/tee period, Not 3 moths or whatever they deem.
Technically if you can proove that the console should last between consoles, ie first gen to second. then sog would still apply.
My first PS1 failed after about 18 months, but sony did a 3 month g/teed replacement d to d for £50 notes. given that the console still had a £100+ price tag, i didnt think it was too bad.
