Great thread!

We have a somerfield store in my village. Its tiny really, and it has 8 spaces out the front. Its been there for more than 25 years.

A few years ago they made a parent and child, and a disabled space. That means only 6 spaces left with no restriction. At the time i thought it was a bit silly.

I went there one night recently (not in my scoob) and parked in the parent and child, I didnt think twice, all other spaces were taken up, even disabled by a non disabled person (happens all the time at this shop).

Then some vigilante Mum starts giving me a right lecture on where I had parked and that I was selfish and ignorant.

Roll back 20 years to when I was 10 and my sister was 7. There were no parent and child at all - my mum managed ok!

My mum didnt need a space wagon for two kids and didnt need an extra 2 foot wide parking space!

My missus has a disabled badge. Problem is There are never any spaces free, usually taken up by non disabled people cars... I don't mind if it's a scoob or an evo as I think it's acceptable,, but I do take pleasure in embarrassing the selfish ***** who think it's clever to make my wife walk across the car park...

10 and 7 you should have been working down the mines at that age. You try getting a 5 month old baby in a lugging great car seat when you can only open your door 5 inches. Then you will see why people get irate.

and if there are no child spaces I take a disabled space, half of them are on the scam anyway.

Yes if they had 200 and 25 were reserved thats cool.

If sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, does that make him witless for not being able to interpret it

And yes Buppa-Po - I am selfish - every man for himself

I remember a couple of years ago someone asked if I were disabled - you know, in a sarcastic tone, so I said 'Yes, I am - I'm financially crippled!' You should have seen their face
No this was on days when he was bed bound with oxygen, wasn't a good idea to leave him for too long and as the food etc was for him then I think it is quite legitimate, if I spent ages trying to find a space anything could happen to him.....I only did it twice anyway once for medication and the other for food, oh and I also used it to pick him up from hospital, its not a good idea to walk miles with someone on there last legs.

People who park in disabled/parent and child spaces and shouldn't really pee me off. There should be a fine for these people for doing this.
I feel the same way about those who park over two spaces. Just out of interest, do you buy two tickets?

What annoys me is that parent/child spaces are being discussed with the same intesity as disabled. Being the parent of a child doesn't make you disabled nor does it give you any rights over and above someone without children. The spaces are there for courtesy and will never be covered by law. Got kids? Get over it!

As for paying for two parking spaces, yes I would.

This is the problem, dim ***** like you..!

Firstly being disabled doesnt automatically mean you can't walk and are wheelchair bound FFS. In fact you will struggle to get a blue badge if you can't walk at all as it's meant to be used by people who find it difficult to walk a distance..!

Secondly, the badge owner doesnt have to be the driver of the car, only a passenger..! The badge is for the person and applies to any car they're travelling in..!

Have you not heard the phrase "never judge a book by it's cover"..!

Pathetic really, there are lots of things not covered by law, like if there is a queue and I push in front of everyone. Not exactly illegal but a complete c*nt thing to do. What ever the bays are marked for, be it disabled, parent/ child, tossers, bints that can't drive etc... Unless you fall into that particular group why shoud you park there?

Exactly, Common sense and courtesy to others - 2 things that appear to be lacking in a large percentage of the population today.

I'm not dim. I'm quite aware who (and why) blue badges are administered to - I don't have to respect or agree with it, so I wont. That's my prerogative.

Nice one
Anyhoo...I would never dream of parking in a disabled/child bay because i'm not disabled and my brats are grown adults. It does **** me off though to see selfish *******s take these spots cos they're obviously too stupid/lazy/inconsiderate to bother with anyone else
The few that I have to visit have plenty of spaces where you can park with little chance of getting crowded in and it's no big deal having to walk for an extra 50 yards

As for taking up two spaces any time iv'e seen that,my first thought is what gives that selfish tosser the right over anyone else so dont be surprised if some halfwit takes the hump and gets their key out.
