Audi have a 1980's engine compared with BMW's 21st century technology.

Really. So explain to us again why you created another account?

So this guy takes one engine thats poorer than a comparable BMW one. How about doing that conmparison for the entire bmw and audi range and post the results, I already know the answer, cause it was in a national paper.

No prizes to the person who correctly guesses which manufacturer has cleaner engines.

think you would be doing yourself an injustice if you don't test drive the range rover sport TDV8.

make sure you know the competition before commiting.

at the same time, check out the price on the V8!! They 06-07MY price increase on the TDV6 was big enough alone, nevermind the TDV8 prices

This site lists many of the best deals Contract Hire & Car Leasing UK - Lease a new car today!

Had considered the V8 RR Sport Adam, but its much more than I want (or can afford!) to spend.

AudiL,

The 5 series is cleaner than the A6 and the 3 series is cleaner than the A4 on both petrol and oil. Please point me in the right direction because Audi seem to be a large step behind BMW in providing a cleaner enviroment for us all to live in.

And I don't hide behind any other user names. Just used to surf the board and could not believe the drivel that comes out of your mouth before you even try to identify fact from fiction in your blinkered little Audi world.

5 series Oil V's A6 Oil-You will notice they are not even in the same tax bracket the Audi is so bad.

BMW-Faster, more economical, fewer emissions

BMW UK : Pricing and specification

Audi-say no more

Audi UK > New Cars > Price and Specification

Want me to go to the 3 series ?

Has anyone got any experience, or sensible (constructive) comments?
Do you have anything relevant to contribute? Do you have a Q7 or any experience of one?

If not, then PPO.

211-179 does not equal 10 unless you want to compare auto BMW to manual Audi

and for the petrol Audi 2.4 v's BMW 2.5

BMW UK : Pricing and specification

Audi UK > New Cars > Price and Specification

Still can't find an Audi model with less emissions. Are you sure your looking at Audi UK ?

two engines, one fairly popular, another not so. try again. Compare some FSI units to those beemer ones. Next gen audi engines will have valvelift also, extra power, more economical, and less emissions.

Still higher. Can't bring next Gen Audi engines into a debate on current models and emissions.

well we all know the audi range is getting revamped at the moment. Next year is a big year for audi. Expect to see several new performance engines, and a return of the turbo 5cyl.

Also the argument is stupid because MB makes the cleanest diesels, so clean that BMW and Audi have got MB's permission to use their bluetec technology.

At least you now admit Audi's current engine line up is complete pants compared with BMW's

As for Merc, two cars checked and its pretty poor compared with the BMW but naturally better than an Audi.

Mercedes-Benz UK - Passenger Cars - Mercedes M-Class - Diesel model

Mercedes-Benz UK - Passenger Cars - New Mercedes E-Class - Diesel models

Think you have well and truely provided this evening you have absolutely no idea about cars except what your Audi brain is convincing you to say. Now go and read up on engines before blurting out any more crap.

No we don't all know. Most wouldn't really give a **** either, despite the nice (read ghey) interiors, you sad idiot.

Back on topic, a Q7 was 'parked' in the car park of the appartment complex we stayed at in Italy in the summer. It was an imposing, monstrous beast that didn't fit the parking bays and was left blocking the road. I'm sure it has a lovely interior though....

if you didnt know ur a fookin moron. RS4 indicates A4 renewal, plus several new models on the way. A8 renewal on the way, Q5, A4, A5 and A7 on the way also, aswell as the R4.

actually even without the RS4 its obvious the A4 is fookin old now and due for replacement.... you ****.

Hows the shop? still selling lots of khandi?

Tilly,

Interesting stuff. I am going to enjoy reading your contributions if they are as informative as your first one on page 1.

To all other owners of these monstrosities,

Why did you buy them buy them? Surely you can't all have a country pile the size of STI-4!! that requires such a vehicle. There must be a large family estate that offers the same levels of practicality. Also, when you bought them did you fully realise the cost of a daily driver that returns 15mpg on a good day? 15,000 miles per year is 5 grand in petrol which is over 8 grand of your salary before tax. Add to that finance payments of at least 1500 quid per month and some pricy servicing/maintenance and you have an annual bill of 25k which requires 40k of pre-tax income to pay for. I realise some people earn a lot of money but if you are going to allocate 25k of your take home pay per year to a car, surely you can come up with something more desirable than that. Don't understand. Does not compute. Explain please. Somebody. Anybody!

Please read the thread for an appraisal of costs as you are way off the mark.

Why do I have a large 4x4?
  • Because I want one.
  • Because its practical for us for load capacity and towing.
  • It doesn't have the ground clearance issues of an estate when dropping a boat off a slipway or towing a race car on a trailer.
  • Most of all, it is about the best way IMHO to keep my precious family safe whilst on the road.
Do you have any experience of the Q7? That is the queston that was asked.

The only experience I have of the Q7 is what I have read. I did also lead an expedition around a display model in an airport departure lounge. Unfortunately most of the team either threw up while looking at it or collapsed during the long hike around it's perimeter and so didn't enjoy the full 4x4 experience.

The petrol and servicing costs are indisputable so I guess you are questioning the monthly payments. I was referring to the purchase costs and not the lease costs. A 50k car plus, say 5k, interest charges equals 55k, or 18k per year or 1500 per month. I prefer to own my car rather than lease it so the 4-500 quid per month lease costs for a base model are not really applicable to me.

You use your car, much like STI-4!!, for what it is intended to do. If you have to tow a boat then big pile of torquey crap is probably just the ticket. For this reason you are not really the sort of person I was hoping would answer the question.

Incidentally, it is quite interesting that you make a particularly self-righteous comment about protecting your family. Clearly you don't care about your children's future as you are quite happy to destroy the planet with your massive polluting monster. Should you be involved in an acident, and I hope you are not, and you t-bone a regular car I hope you give due consideration to the passengers in that car whose skulls will have been shattered by your high-level bumper. Still, at least it is good for towing your boat.

Maybe I should just quote the articles for a easy fix to your stupidity.
