Almost. Although the dv does tend to Pst a tiny little bit at V high load/revs.
certainly the way to go if just testing out the theory.
I can only vouch for the fact it works on my garrett core though.
Wouldn't like to speculate whether it's fine on an IHI or VF though.

Mine hasn't had a dump valve since I modified it 3 years ago.
However it is an aftermarket turbo.
