How about pure handling perfection:
1972 Elan FHC
Re-engine it with a nice modern all-ally engine to make it even lighter (with accompanying suspenion mods to compensate) and you have the oomph to go with it.
Then spend the remaining £30K with some "escorts" in Monaco

Or, perhaps a brand new Kia Rio and give the rest to charity ?

What about the best RUF that your budget will stretch to?
Incidentally, LMAO at the thought of going from a Porsche 996 to a Nissan 350z... MMmm what a mouthwatering prospect that'd be LOL

I have seen a couple of reviews of the Gallardo saying it is phenomenally quick but a bit like a Golf to drive, i.e. not that exciting. More tourer than sports car. Reliable though being a VW.
There was a Yellowbird for sale at Specialist Cars recently for around £50k - I think it was the same on in evo this month.

How about a Golf Diesl to drive during the week.
Guaranteed to add 200bhp to the porker and put the fun back.
Failing that a Koenigsegg CCX should do the trick for a week or two

Someone mentioned the Atom...
Well I thought they were ****e untill I drove one at Bedford last week.
I was blown away and really want one now!! That was only the basic 160 version. Had been lapping in my 400+ Evo all day but nothing compares to the feeling in the Atom.
*gets cheque book out*

Incidentally, just been to my local BMW dealer who told me its going to the best part of 2 years before I'll be able to get a new M3 due the 12 month waiting list thats already there, when I mentioned the E60 M5 he warned me off it due to its hideous fuel consumption, would you say thats a fair warning?

The salesman told me that on a GOOD run you should be looking around 11 MPG - I have a 120 mile daily commute!
BB
Whilst I appreciate that the RUF's are essentially 911's they are (from what I've been led to believe) very different beasts compared to a stock 911 Turbo in terms of the driving experience. I dont recall porkerboy saying he didnt like the 911, just that it wasnt particularly inspiring to drive - Im sure a 911 with 650bhp & 642 lb-ft, 0-60 3.7 and top speed in excess of 220mph might be a slightly different proposition.
Heres the spec of the lastest incarnation:
Specifications RUF Rt 12
Engine:
• Water-cooled 6-cylinder Boxer
• 8 main bearing crankshaft
• Double overhead camshafts per cylinder bank
• 4 valves per cylinder – hydraulically actuated with variable valve timing
• Water-cooled with three radiators and a water-oil heat exchanger
• Dry sump lubrication system with separate oil tank
• Electronic Bosch fuel injection
• Twin KKK turbochargers with integrated wastegates and 3-way catalytic converters
• Broke x Stroke of 100.0 mm x 76.4 mm
• Oil capacity (including filter) of 12 litres
• Water capacity of 22 litres
• Fuel requirement of premium unleaded 98 ROZ
• Performance: 560 bhp, maximum torque 790 Nm
Options: 530 bhp, maximum torque 750 Nm
650 bhp, maximum torque 870 Nm
Transmission:
• Rear wheel drive (Four wheel drive is an optional extra)
• Six-speed manual with customer-specified gear ratios
Chassis:
• RUF sports suspension: fully adjustable in ride height and stiffness
Option: RUF sports suspension, hydraulically adjustable in height up to 50 millimetres
• RUF alloy wheels: front 9” x 19” with 255/35 ZR 19 Pirelli tyres
rear 12.5” x 20” with 345/25 ZR 20 Pirelli tyres
Brakes:
• Front and rear cross-drilled, inner ventilated discs
• ABS-System
• Monobloc-Aluminium-Calipers
Body:
• Electrically variable RUF rear spoiler
• RUF front spoiler
• RUF side mirrors
• RUF widened rear fenders with integrated intercooler air intakes
Interior:
• RUF instrumentation
• RUF 3 spoke leather steering wheel with airbag
• RUF sport bucket seats
Performance:
• Top speed more than 219 mph (subject to gear ratios / engine output choice)
• 0 – 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds

And all for the price of a fully loaded Ford Focus
. Point taken, but I hope you can understand my thinking that there must be something cheaper than a perfectly servicable house that will provide him with the edge he is looking for. If he is going to regularly take the car to Germany or a track with very long straights then I can see your logic, but if it is going to be his daily driver then something with slightly more accessable limits might be the order of the day.

Thanks for the advice lads
The reason why Im bored with the porker is partly because I cant rag the nads off it - its just too quick. Above 5000 rpm in 3rd gear or above - the speeds reached are just too silly. Dont get me wrong - its incredibly quick - will see off virtually any car.
I just cant thrash it or approach it's grip levels on public roads and its too nice/expensive a car to risk pranging on a track day.
Probably sounds a bit daft / girly, but its the truth.
Do miss my evo 7 - not as quick - but more fun.
