BEHRINGER XENYX 802 - U.K. International Cyberstore

BEHRINGER XENYX 502 - U.K. International Cyberstore

eBay.co.uk - ub1002, Pro Audio Equipment, Musical Instruments items at low prices

The mixers above - I would recommend Behringer over the Soundlab stuff. The latter are cheap (true), but for a reason!! No point in going to all this effort an putting it through a sh1tty mixer

LOL - at the "power-on sequence"!! The amount of stories where Windoze will only let equipment be turned on in a particular order is hilarious!!

The soundcard issue is a big one - it's moreso a combination of processor/memory/hardware

With reference to syncing the audio up with the MIDI - piece of p1ss......
Record/program the MIDI first, then play/record your live stuff to the MIDI backing track on an audio track in the sequencer EASY

now ive just popped over to a mates and borrowed his mixer and tried to mix and audio track with the motif, which worked!! yeh! but what output do i need to use from the laptop for the audio? the only output at the moment is the headphone out and there was a background cpu noise the whole time can i get rid of this? or do i need a different audio output??

thanks again in advance!!

glad it's working

Unless the lappy's got a seperate line out, the headphones is the only way

if you got an audio interface rather than the just the MIDI, you could use that.....

Otherwise, for the time-being, you're stuck!

ok so just when you thought id gone quiet and stopped asking questions!!!........

so i got the mixer and also an audio interface to try and rid my audio of the background noise from the comp.

them mixer works a treat and is a nice little bit of kit thanks for the advice!

but im still having problems mixing my midi with audio to get a burnable mix.

ive been trying to play the midi out into my motif rack and the audio via the usb interface into the mix. but the audio seems to play faster speed through the interface than it does through the comp speakers/headphones. so when it is all coming from one sonic chart midi and audio is not the same speed?? wtf?!!!! also the sound quality is still poor, hum and noise from cpu, althoug not if i listen through the headphone out on the mixer......

ahhhh.....

any help anyone?!!

LOL - ok, something's gone a bit t1ts up

Firstly, the audio being at a different speed - is it at a different pitch also? It sounds like an "audio/midi synchronisation" problem...... check the sample rates are all the same in the laptop.

Secondly, the noise is down to an earthing issue between (assuming here) the mixer and the amp/hifi - it has to be as the sound is fine from the headphone output of the mixer, therefore the output is fine. The problem is after the mixer....

Dont ya love PCs? Don't get this cr@p with a Mac :P

Let me know what the findings are with the audio aspect and I'll see what I can do

cheers fella. ok the hum was the amp/speakers. luckly not mine but borrowed so not my problem!! set up speakers from my stereo and hum is gone! cheers!

now the other problem is a killer!! i changed the sample rate/audio thing and it corrected the speed but added lots of pops and crackles........then it stopped working at all!! ahhhhh!!

its something to do with the audio interface. SONAR says cant use it due to wrong settings/it being in use. well it certainly isnt in use by anything else so its a settings thing i guess!!

you any knowledge of Sonar and interface settings?!!!

will have a look when I get to work - it's the buffer that Sonar's set up. It's wrong for your interface. Relatively easy, but a bitch to correct due to the amount of settings

you gonna love this.........just thought id have one more go this morning after about 2 hours of trying to get it to work last night.......and it works fine now.

as you keep saying, the wonders of windows pcs!!! maybe i need to be temped by the way of the apple!!

the sound quality isnt crystal, but its good, and better that from the phono out on the laptop. havent time to check if its at same pitch/speed as midi, but sounds like it is at first hearing.

thank flok but what a waste if 2 hours headbanging last night!!!

thanks again for you help! if there is anything you can add it will be greatly recieved!!
