A troll is just an attention seeker, who posts nothing but crap as they feel the need for people to notice them.
Usually these people have no kind of life off the internet.

As for your contention that these people 'have no kind of life off the internet' how did you come to that conclusion?
I'd contend that the people who have 'no kind of life' are the ***** who spend their lives on here outside of work time organising meets in car parks and on trading estates with other sad losers in order to look under each other's bonnets and compare stickers.

That your comments are educated is a matter of opinion. I implied they weren't and they aren't.
With reference to exactly what a Troll is - Troll (computing) - Dictionary Definition by freesearch (just one of many definitions stating in essence the same thing)

A point we agree on
My reason for posting the link was that the previous posts indicated a miscomprehension as to what a Troll is defined as.
What we're actually talking about is an individual who can slip into the roll of Troll but also make some relatively informed comments.
I think what tends to unbalance everything is when that person "stirs up the ****" for no reason other than to cause disruption - hence their being branded (incorrectly, fwiw) a Troll. I don't actually think there's a term for these types of people, however, I would certainly agree with others that it would not be seen as "normal' behaviour, nor seen as to be in the spirit of the (whichever) BBS' values.
But I do still refer back to the BBS function of the Ignore button. If people get offended, press the button. When enough people do this, there is no audience or stage for this type of activity. Quite simple.
Anyhoo, whilst it HAS been entertaining, I really must do some work - I will read with great interest as to how this thread transpires (if that is the case! )

As for a 'troll rising to the bait' surely the raison d'etre of the work-a-day troll is inciting response and outwitting the stupid. Therefore they cannot 'rise to the bait'.
Moving onto the more interesting issues raised by this topic are the comments made by 'DaveGTT' regarding moses. I for one have never regarded him as a troll in any way and people who label him as such prove my next contention. Namely that the epithet 'troll' is handed out to anyone who has a viewpoint that doesn't fit in with the views of the majority. That way it's far easier to dismiss their comments as mere 'trolling' rather than having to challenge, justify and explain their own (usually **** poor) beliefs.
As an aside regarding the comments made by chrispervert1000 about the thread where my comments were eventually deleted. Who cares? I certainly don't, they weren't put there for the benefit of future generations of scoobynet mongos but to amuse me when I wrote them. Their deletion is therefore unimportant.

You are also now being anything but original. I lost count at how many people made fun of of name at school. But that is where that sort of thing stayed..... at school!
In the 2.5 years that I have used this site, you are also the first to drop to the level of mocking my name.
You DO NOT provide this bbs with educated responce's. You just use it to pick fights from behind your monitor.
I would bet all the tea in china, that you wouldn't act the way you do, if we were face to face!

Yes I do often laugh at my own threads here on scoobynet and the sad, desperate responses they often get from the educationally subnormal scoobynet mongo contingent.
How do you propose we test your theory about 'not acting the way I do face to face'? I can guarantee you that I would. I've been nothing but gently mocking toward you and if you can't take it then I suggest you develop a thicker skin.

Indeed everyone does (leaving aside birth defects or serious injury) have an arsehole. And they have them for a very valid reason

It isn't a question of being able to 'take it'. I really couldn't care less what you say about me. You wouldn't speak to people in that manor anywhere in public, so why do it here? Because you can and don't face getting your face smashed in?
Personally I think that you have been an established scoobynet user for some time, do not have the courage to say what you feel under that name, so created an expendable 'alias'.
Very, very sad. But, please continue..... as it gives the rest of us, something to talk about!

Torpid (or whatever variant you are presently using) - did you specifically target this forum for the hope of finding individuals with the prerequisite characteristics for you to take the p1ss out of? To go on a car enthusiasts forum and then belittle them when they "look under each other's bonnets and compare stickers" seems too easy.
You seem to continually imply intellectual superiority to each and every poster within these forums leading me to ask the question - why did you come here in the first place? Have you ever even owned a Subaru? I'm just curious of your motivation.

What relevance my interests have to the intrinsic sadness of dongrels like these 'people' (ESC Mugshot's Gallery) is I'm not sure, however............

To answer your other question I've owned 2 Subarus and when I first joined this site was amazed at how stupid and reactionary other users were. I therefore decided to stay and have some fun with them.

So your being here has nothing to do with Subaru ownership??
Think you had better read this then. Honest mistake to make!
Now run along.

More's to the point - Scoobynet is such a large community that now it is a platform for car enthusiasts in general, however with bias/appreciation towards the Subaru marque.
Therefore, IMHO, respect should be paid to those who post here in regards to Subaru, after all, it is their forum predominantly.
I've had a couple of Subarus. Now own an Audi - I still post here, because it is entertaining and I've made some good what I would class as friends. I don't however, slag of the Subaru marque (any more than is necessary based on the common knowledge out there!) nor the owners because of this.
This all goes out the window if you're hell-bent on causing disruption
