"the BBC micro/Acorn electron was for the pubeless geek who got hard writing mindless programs that flooded the screen with the letter "a""
i wrote and sold my first program on the beeb micro B at the age of 11 - an electronic compass calibration app, via rs232. bit more than 'A's on the screen lol
those were the days.

There was a Frankie goes to Hollywood tie in (adventure type thing) and a game called Blagger by Alligata with a sequel called son of Blagger, both were platformers.
Blagger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Written by Tony Crowther, legendary C64 programmer, I sent him a letter as a kid and got a really nice reply, well chuffed.

I had a spectrum, Way of the Exploding Fist, Jetpac, Jet Set ***** ands Manic Miner all classics. Liked Attic Attack and Renegade too, remember one of the bosses was a big fat burd Big Bertha????
Mate had a C64 and we used to spend hours on Brian Cloughs Football Manager, it was a computer/board game where you would use the c64 for the dice to move round the board, you then typed in your team stats and the c64 done the game, transfer market and other things. Remember playing along one day and then getting my squad decimated in an Earthquake ffs!
Barry M'Guigans, International Soccer (Cartridge), and Mission Impossible were all classics. There was a Basketball game we used to play as well.
We than ran up and down his hall playing football smashing our toes off the radiator!

thats the one but the days of thrashing over comic book breast cleavage shots are well and truly over
although having had a C64 i think the spectrum 48k rubber keypad will be the one i always remember...a phenomenal amount of games and Underwurlde and Wheelie will always be cherished
i think the best gamers today honed all their skills over the old style games
would you get the kids of today playing platform games like manic miner and chuckie egg.....1 false move and game over...no chance
they wouldnt have the patience...no quick saves on sabrewulf, jet pac or knightlore
Lord Shrek....my mate glopped over Judge Anderson in 2000AD

i recently acquired a disk with 1400 arcade games on it.
every single arcade game ever made from the 70's to the end of the 90's
talk about nostalgia
they all play on your pc and when i say every game i mean every game.
